Today, I want to introduce you to Jack Skellington—a 7-year-old lab mix who was walked past every day and then left completely neglected in his own home. When Wallkill ACO brought him to us, they were concerned he might need to be euthanized due to his condition. But at Quality Pet Care, we believed there was hope. We ran comprehensive tests, and despite his untreated dental issues and extreme malnutrition, Jack was surprisingly in good overall health. We kept him overnight to start his healing journey. Thanks so much to Kim Barking Back Rescue for helping us find an incredible foster for Jack. He left our office today to go into his foster home, and he will be with Barking Back Rescue throughout his entire healing process. They will be in charge of his ongoing care and will handle all aspects of his adoption to ensure he finds the best forever home possible. We’re calling on the community if anyone can donate, volunteer, or support Jack’s care in any way, please reach out to our office, stop by, or contact Kim from Barking Back Rescue. Every bit of help counts in giving him the second chance he needs and deserves.
Sadly, Jack’s owner isn’t being charged and simply surrendered him, which feels like they got away with it. If there were stricter laws and owners held accountable for these acts of neglect, I honestly believe we wouldn’t see so many of these heartbreaking cases. It’s upsetting how animal cruelty often seems to be overlooked. But we won’t stop fighting—these animals depend on us, and they deserve better. We need to hold people responsible and ensure that their voices are heard. They matter, and we have a duty to protect them.
