This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for every dog owner who trusts me with their pup.

Every training session reminds me why I do this work. Watching a frustrated owner finally enjoy peaceful walks. Seeing a reactive dog learn to feel safe. Helping families build stronger bonds with their dogs.

As a veteran, service has always been at the core of who I am. Now I get to serve my community in a different way, one dog at a time.

Unpopular opinion:

Your dog does not need to be friends with every dog at the park. It is okay if they just ignore other dogs.

Not every dog is social. Some dogs prefer people. Some dogs are selective about their dog friends. And that is completely normal.

The goal is not to make your dog love every dog they meet. The goal is to teach them to be calm and neutral around other dogs.

Try this today:

Before your walk, have your dog sit and wait at the door for 10 seconds.

This sets the tone that YOU control the walk, not them. It is a small change that makes a big difference in how your dog behaves once you step outside.

Bonus: It also prevents them from bolting out the door and dragging you down the steps.

Stop yanking your dog's leash when they pull.

It makes them pull MORE because they're bracing against the pressure. You're actually teaching them to pull harder.

3 signs your dog's leash pulling is actually a bigger problem:

1. They are pulling so hard they are coughing or gagging
2. You are avoiding walks altogether
3. You have tried 5+ different harnesses with no improvement

Leash pulling is not just annoying. It is a safety issue and a sign your dog does not respect boundaries.

The good news? It is fixable with the right training approach.
