Nice ink for our hard-working groom Pedro💙
Lost Emerald, an 11-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding by Emerald van’t Ruytershof, was named the Best Turned Out Horse, presented by The Clothes Horse, on Wednesday, October 22. Lost Emerald competed in the Amateur-Owner 3’6” 36 & Over Hunters with Diana Cummings and is trained by Jonelle Mullen of TuDane Farm in The Plains, VA. His groom is Pedro Cortez, who has been a groom for nine years and worked for Jonelle for seven years. Lost Emerald is his favorite horse.
Diana purchased Lost Emerald four years ago. “He’s just a blast to ride,” she said. “He’s so uncomplicated, and it’s so nice to go in a ring and not have to worry about him looking at the jumps.
“Pedro’s the best,” continued Diana. “Pedro gets it. He can read horses, and he’s the best at his job. He’s always in a good mood and is a total asset to our program.”
Jonelle added, “He’s a very compassionate horseman and just a gentle, nice, caring guy. He’s always the first one there and the last one to leave. He takes great care of the horses and the clients. Everyone really loves him. He’s indispensable.”
