If you want your dog to bark less you might be tempted to respond negatively. Instead focus on why your dog is barking, often this is a sign of boredom or agitation.
A great tip is to drill some holes in a pet bottle and put food inside. This will keep your dog interested for hours and he will be too busy to bark!
