Just be careful, don't forget about that breed.

Wesley Grist walked into the kitchen to find his 11-year-old son Cash lying in a pool of blood, with two Cane Corso dogs nearby. The dogs had previously attacked a woman and k*lled other pets. The owner had warned Grist not to leave his son alone with them. Cash died from a fatal bite wound to the neck. The dogs were later euthanized.

🐶👋 Powerful Hand Signals for Dog Training

Dogs naturally respond well to visual communication, making hand signals a great way to improve training and focus. Consistent gestures combined with patience and positive reinforcement can help create faster and more reliable results.

✋ Sit
A raised hand helps guide dogs into a calm sitting position and encourages attention.

🛑 Stay
Using a firm open-palm signal teaches dogs to remain in place until released.

🤝 Come
A welcoming hand motion encourages dogs to return quickly and confidently.

⬇️ Down
A downward hand movement helps guide dogs into a relaxed lying position.

👇 Here
Pointing near you can reinforce closeness and improve recall training.

🚫 Leave It
An open stop signal teaches self-control and helps dogs avoid unwanted objects or food.

🤫 Quiet
A calm finger gesture can help reduce excessive barking and encourage calm behavior.

⏳ Wait
This signal teaches patience before meals, walks, or entering spaces.

🔄 Roll Over
Circular hand movements help guide playful trick training and body coordination.

🤝 Shake
An offered hand encourages friendly interaction and basic obedience skills.

🧍 Don’t Move
A steady stop gesture helps dogs remain calm and still during training moments.

👀 Watch Me
Pointing toward the eyes encourages eye contact and improves concentration.

🚶 Heel
Walking signals help dogs stay close and controlled during walks.

🎾 Drop It
A release signal teaches dogs to safely let go of toys or objects.

🛏️ Go to Bed
Pointing toward a resting area helps create structure and calm routines at home.

💡 Consistency Is Key
Using the same gestures regularly helps dogs learn commands faster and build confidence during training.

Clear communication, patience, and positive reinforcement can turn training into a fun and rewarding experience for both dogs and their owners.

Did you know your dog's collar color could be sending a message?

Ever seen a dog wearing a bright yellow bandana or a specific colored collar and wondered what it meant? It’s more than just a fashion choice—it’s a way for owners to communicate their dog's needs without saying a word! 🗣️🐕

Understanding this Dog Collar Color Guide can help keep our furry friends safe and give owners the peace of mind they need during walks.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what to look for:
🟡 Yellow: Needs space. This dog might be nervous or in training.
🟠 Orange: No dogs! They love people but aren't fans of other pups.
🔴 Red: Stop! Do not approach. This dog needs a wide berth for safety.
🟢 Green: Friendly & Social. I'm ready to make new friends!
💗 Pink: Female dog in heat.
🟣 Purple: Do not feed. This pup might have allergies or a strict diet.
⚪ White: Disabled or sick. They may be blind, deaf, or just feeling unwell.
🔵 Blue: Working dog. Please don't distract me while I'm on the job!

💼Why does this matter?
Not every dog is a "social butterfly." Some are rescues working through trauma, others are service animals, and some are just plain shy. By respecting the "color code," we make the world a friendlier place for every tail to wag!

Let’s chat in the comments:
1️⃣ Did you know about these color meanings?
2️⃣ Which color best describes your pup's personality?

🚨$5,000 REWARD for Renzo’s safe return OR information leading to his safe return.

Renzo was picked up at an I-75 Rest Area near Mile Marker 413 in Lake City on 2/23/26.

After extensive searching, no confirmed sightings, no injury reports, and no shelter or animal control intake, the most logical explanation is that someone kind-hearted saw a tiny dog alone and brought him somewhere safe.

If that was you or someone you know who picked up Renzo, please hear this:

Renzo was NOT abandoned.
He slipped out of our car in seconds.
It was an accident.
We love him. He is our family.
We understand why someone would stop for an 8-pound Yorkie at a rest stop. We would have done the same.

My mom, a 74-year-old woman, is heartbroken (along with everyone who knows and loves him). Renzo is her companion, her comfort, and our family’s cherished furbaby.

We can arrange if desired:
• A completely confidential return
• An anonymous handoff
• A safe third-party location such as a shelter, church, or public facility

If you have him or know where he is:
📞 248-219-5106. We will not send any money up front under any circumstances. All scam or spam attempts will be reported to authorities and blocked immediately.

Please share this post. The right share reaches the right person.

Is Your Dog's Food Bowl at the Wrong Height?

Where you place the bowl matters more than most
people realize. The angle at which a dog eats affects
posture, joint load, and how efficiently they swallow
and digest.

THE WRONG POSITION — Bowl on the floor:
When a dog eats from a floor-level bowl, the neck
bends sharply downward and the front legs bear
significantly more weight than normal. The esophagus
angles downward, which can make swallowing less
efficient and increase the amount of air swallowed
during eating. Joint and neck strain is consistent
with this posture, particularly in older dogs and
those with arthritis.

Problems associated with floor-level eating:
✗ Increased air swallowing (aerophagia)
✗ Excess pressure on front leg joints and shoulders
✗ Neck and cervical spine strain
✗ Less efficient food passage through the esophagus

THE CORRECT POSITION — Elevated bowl:
An elevated bowl positioned at approximately chest
height (10–12 inches for medium dogs, adjust for
breed size) allows the dog to eat with the neck
in a natural, relaxed position. The spine stays
neutral, the esophagus aligns more efficiently,
and the front legs bear normal weight distribution.

Benefits of an elevated bowl:
✓ More relaxed eating posture
✓ Reduced joint and shoulder strain
✓ Neutral spine alignment
✓ Easier food movement through the esophagus

HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT HEIGHT:
Measure from the floor to your dog's chest (the
lowest point of the rib cage). The bowl rim should
sit approximately at that height — typically
10–12 inches for a medium Labrador-sized dog.

⚠ Note for large and giant breed owners: The
relationship between elevated feeders and bloat
(GDV) in large breeds is actively debated in
veterinary literature. Consult your veterinarian
before switching to an elevated feeder for dogs
over 70 lbs.
