The SFVMA was established to promote the highest professional relationships among its members and the public. A key objective of the Association is to provide programs that further the professional education of veterinarians in an atmosphere of friendship and cooperation. Monthly Association meetings are conducted every third Wednesday of the month, with the exception of December and January. Meet
ings include updates to members on Association events and business items, as well as pertinent local, state and national legislative information affecting the veterinary profession and/or animal health and well-being. Monthly meetings also provide continuing education seminars each totaling 2 continuing education (CE) credits. As a member attending all monthly meetings it is possible to obtain 18 CE credits through the Association for the entire year. In addition, a Pharmacy Laws Meeting is held every February that will fulfill your pharmacy CE credit for licensing renewal in the state of Florida. All committees are headed by member volunteers. The committees include: continuing education, newsletter, social events, legislative, membership, hurricane disaster, continuing existence and ethics/grievances. The ethics and grievances committee fairly and impartially investigates all allegations of misconduct against members of this Association. Information obtained by the grievances committee is considered privileged and is not released outside of the committee or board of directors. The SFVMA offers many social activities to bring members together for fun and relaxation. South Florida's tropical climate provides the perfect opportunity to hold fun and exciting events. Past social events include an annual Spring Picnic for veterinarians, their families and staff, a Summer Fishing Tournament and a Fall Golf Tournament. At year's end we celebrate the holidays with our annual Christmas Party.
