Wally the tiny doodle used to bite for blood and now he is a perfect 10/10 absolute dream baby for grooming!!!!
Sir Wallace is the newest addition to one of my weekly households. When he first arrived back in November, he was extremely fearful and had no self confidence so he would resort to biting to "defend" himself (reasonable but not response we want).
In the salon, I saw him weekly with the other two household dogs and let him sit on the ground and watch/play/relax while he watched them get groomed (they loooove their spa days). We did what we could ever visit safely.
At home, Wally went to training camp and learned lots of obedience commands, raising his confidence and teaching him how humans communicate and how he can communicate.
Week after week he got better and better, at first marginally and eventually exponentially from visit to visit.
Today he was absolutely perfect for everything, and even escaped his house by opening the back door to run back to the van while we left 🤣
This is why frequent visits are so important for young, fearful dogs and why obedience training is more than just learning how to sit.
Now Wally sees grooming as a fun part of his life that he looks forward to every week, and not a totally random horrifying occurance that happens upon him a few times a year. He knows how to communicate and trusts that we will communicate with him in return. So proud of Wally, his family, his trainers, and us 🤣🫶
I LOVE YOU SIR WALLACE MILTON THE FOURTH
