I’ve trained dogs for 22 years 🇺🇸 and I’ve never met a puller I couldn’t fix. here’s the exact order I do it in 👇 #3 is the one that changes everything (SAVE THIS)

nine out of ten dogs that come to me have the same problem — the owner is being walked. I used to spend whole sessions fighting the leash too, until I built a sequence that works on almost every dog I put it on.

🌱 1. I start every dog in the backyard, never on the street — 5 minutes, no distractions. she learns the position first. asking a dog to learn next to traffic and squirrels is asking her to fail.

🖐️ 2. the treat sits at my hip seam, never out in front — this is the fix I give on day one and owners are always shocked. dogs follow the food, not your voice. hold it where you want her head and she puts herself there.

🎓 3. the sequence I run every dog through, in order — this is the one that changes everything. pulling isn’t a leash problem, it’s a communication problem, and most people are correcting step 6 before they’ve taught step 1. I put the whole thing together as a day-by-day program so you can run it at home without me. most dogs I’ve used it on turn a corner in the second week. (it’s in my bio, in the comments or right here: https://sarah-method.com/program)

🔄 4. I stop walking the second the leash goes tight — no yank, no “no.” I just stop. pulling ends the walk, slack starts it again. give it four days and watch what happens.

🎯 5. random direction changes every 30 seconds — she has to watch me to know where we’re going. this is how I become more interesting than the squirrel, and it’s the drill I assign the most.

🦴 6. half of breakfast gets fed on the walk, not in the bowl — walking beside you becomes the thing that pays. costs nothing, works on stubborn dogs.

🌙 7. two short walks instead of one long one — 10 good minutes beat 40 minutes of dragging. you’re building a habit, not clocking miles.

you don’t need a stronger harness. you need the steps in the right order.
