🐰 “My bunny stays indoors. Do they still need protection?”

It’s a question worth asking. Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus—especially RHDV2—can spread through contaminated shoes, clothing, food, equipment and insects. Indoor living doesn’t eliminate the risk.

🐢 Not every patient has fur…and every life deserves skilled, compassionate care.

This male turtle was experiencing a persistent pe**le prolapse. Our veterinary team initially treated the condition on two separate occasions by carefully repositioning the affected tissue and securing it with sutures.

Unfortunately, the prolapse continued to return. When the initial treatments were no longer successful, our team performed a penectomy to remove the damaged tissue and protect the patient’s health.

The procedure was completed successfully, and our little patient was closely monitored throughout recovery. 💙

Cases like this require specialized knowledge, patience and a gentle touch. At Miami Springs Animal Hospital, we’re proud to care for turtles, reptiles and many other exotic pets—not only dogs and cats.

🐱 She swallowed 17 hair ties—and the X-ray couldn’t tell the whole story.

This sweet kitten was referred to Miami Springs Animal Hospital by our sister clinic, Hialeah Animal Hospital, after signs raised concern for a possible gastrointestinal obstruction.

The radiographs suggested that something wasn’t right, but they couldn’t fully reveal what was inside. That’s where advanced endoscopy made the difference.

Using a small camera to look directly inside the gastrointestinal tract, our veterinary team discovered and successfully removed 17 fabric hair ties—one by one—through the endoscope.

The best news? Our little patient was awake after the procedure and is doing great. ❤️

This case is a wonderful example of veterinary collaboration: one hospital identifying the concern, another providing the advanced procedure, and both teams working toward the same goal—a safer, healthier patient.

Hair ties, ribbons, string and rubber bands may look harmless, but they can become dangerous when swallowed. If your pet is vomiting, refusing food, unusually tired or showing signs of abdominal discomfort, seek veterinary care promptly.
