✨ Throwback Thursday ✨

Looking back at our volunteer day at Cudabears Lair in April 2025 and counting down the days until we do it all over again on an even bigger level! 💚🐷

This event is about coming together to support our partner sanctuary and an incredible woman who gives so much of herself to animals every single day. Doniele has been pulled in a million directions this year running the sanctuary, coordinating transports, working, raising her kids, and always showing up when animals need her.

She deserves this support, this help, and so much more. She truly is a diamond in the sky, and we’re honored to stand beside her.

We can’t wait to see familiar faces return and meet so many new volunteers joining us for the first time. Together, we’re going to make a huge impact for the animals and help lighten the load for a sanctuary that gives so much to the community.

We can’t wait to make this happen alongside all of you.

As the founder of a rescue network made up of 40+ sanctuaries across Florida, I fully support East Coast Rabbit RescueCoast Rabbit Rescue and Monica’s adoption process. These standards exist for a reason. Every question on an application comes from years of experience, heartbreak, and lessons learned after seeing animals surrendered, neglected, abandoned, or passed from home to home.

We are here for the animals first. A rescue’s job is not to make adoption easy—it’s to make sure the placement is right.

If someone truly cares about providing a lifelong home, filling out an application should not be an obstacle. The few minutes it takes to complete a form are nothing compared to the years of commitment these animals deserve.

We stand with our fellow sanctuaries and rescues. We are a community united by one mission: putting the animals’ best interests first. I appreciate Monica and the work East Coast Rabbit Rescue does every day to protect these animals. I wouldn’t want it any other way. 💚🐰

Some people become upset when we explain our adoption process. We understand that not everyone will agree with our requirements, but we will not lower our standards to please others.
The unfortunate reality is that many rescues and shelters are overwhelmed with animals because too many people view pets as toys, gifts, or temporary companions rather than lifelong commitments. Our responsibility is to the animals, not to making the adoption process as easy as possible.
We are not offended by comments criticizing our standards. In fact, we take them as a compliment. Our screening process exists because we care deeply about where our rabbits go and because we want to ensure they will be safe, loved, and properly cared for for the rest of their lives.
Every requirement we have is based on years of experience, lessons learned, and a commitment to giving these animals the best possible chance at a happy future. We would rather lose an adoption than place a rabbit in a home that is not prepared for the responsibility.
The rabbits deserve nothing less.

Over the last two days, we have once again witnessed why we do what we do. 💚🐷

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Anabella Hauck, Robin, Chris, Santiago Forteza , Jean, Annette, and Richelle for your support, compassion, and dedication to helping Maximus. Thank you, Annette and Richelle, for reaching out to us and ensuring he got the help he needed.

Thank you to our incredible FARA team and sanctuary network for always showing up when animals need us most. Your support, guidance, and willingness to help make all the difference.

A very special thank you to Officer Finelli of the Pembroke Pines Police Department for your kindness, compassion, and genuine concern for Maximus. We are so grateful for your help.

In many ways, this feels like Laz all over again. Like Laz, Maximus is a pig who was likely destined for slaughter and was given a second chance. Since founding this organization, we have helped save many farm animals who were headed down that same path. Every one of them matters. Every one of them deserves the opportunity to live.

We chose the name Maximus because despite everything this little piglet is facing, he has shown incredible strength and resilience. “Maximus” means “the greatest,” and we felt it was the perfect name for a little fighter who has already touched so many hearts. As a special tribute, the name was inspired by Annabella’s favorite movie, Gladiator, whose main character, Maximus, embodies courage, determination, and the will to keep fighting against the odds qualities we see in this little piglet.

Time and time again, we witness why this work matters. One phone call, one act of compassion, one person willing to stop and help can change the course of an animal’s life forever.

And to everyone who supports our mission, follows our work, shares our posts, volunteers, donates, and believes in what we do, thank you. We couldn’t do this without you.

🚨 Volunteers Needed This Saturday at Cudabear’s Lair! 🚨

Do you have experience in construction, electrical work, carpentry, fencing, repairs, or general handyman projects?

We are looking for skilled volunteers willing to donate a few hours of their time this Saturday to help us complete important projects that directly benefit the animals at the sanctuary.

If you are an electrician, contractor, tradesperson, construction worker, or simply someone with experience and a willingness to help, we would love to hear from you. Even a few hours can make a huge difference.

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we can provide a donation receipt for your volunteer time and services.

💙🐷 A Huge Thank You to Pembroke Pines Police Department! 🐷💙

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the officers and staff at the Pembroke Pines Police Department for stepping in to help this sweet pig in need.

Piglets are not typically found wandering along US-27 unless something has gone terribly wrong. This little guy was found near Johnson Street and US-27, not far from Mary’s Ranch, also known as Matadero Cabrera. While we cannot know exactly where he came from, what we do know is that he was found alone, limping, and suffering from a severe mass involving his ge***al area.

No animal should have to endure that.

Because of the compassion and quick action of the Pembroke Pines Police Department, he is now safe and receiving the care he desperately needs. Animal welfare truly takes a community, and we’re grateful to work alongside agencies that recognize that every life matters.

We are honored to have welcomed him into the Florida Animal Rescue Alliance family. Our veterinarian, Dr. Santiago Forteza, DVM, will be evaluating him this week so we can better understand his condition and determine the next steps in his care.

We will be posting an update soon. Until then, please join us in thanking the Pembroke Pines Police Department for their kindness, dedication, and commitment to helping animals in our community.💚🐷

🚨 URGENT: BUBBA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME 🚨

Many of you have already met Bubba and know what a sweet, goofy boy he is. 💚🐾

Bubba is approx 1 year old, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find his forever family. He has lots of energy and would do best with an active home that can give him the exercise, structure, and attention he needs.

⚠️ Bubba is not good with cats, so he will need a cat-free home.

We would love to see Bubba placed with someone who has experience with larger, high-energy dogs and can help him continue to thrive.

Please help us share his story. The right home is out there, we just need to find it. 💚

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, now is the time to sign up. Volunteer registration will close this Wednesday so we can finalize our headcount, volunteer assignments, supplies, and lunch arrangements.

There’s still time to be part of a meaningful day of service while helping the animals and supporting one of our sanctuary partners.
