from two "Andy Griffith Show" episodes
Leg of lamb: a weapon, a favorite dish, or a means of profiling?
"Ellie for Council" (1960)
Otis: No, Andy. Don't never apologize to a woman. I say, if you got an argument with a woman, stand up and fight it out.
⭐Andy: Well, fightin' it out's what put you behind them bars, Otis.
Otis: But she threw a dish at me.
⭐Andy: You swung a leg of lamb at her.
Otis: But I missed her.
⭐Andy: Yeah, but you hit her mother.
Otis: Yeah. Right in the mouth.
"A Wife for Andy" (1963)
🐑Andy: Leg of lamb? Good, good. That's my favorite dish.
⭐Barney: Did ya hear that, Miss Crump? That's Andy's favorite dish. Son of a gun, ever since I can remember it's been his favorite dish. I bet you cook a mean leg of lamb yourself, don't ya?
🐑Miss Crump: Oh, no, I wouldn't know where to start.
⭐Barney: Huh! Come on.
🐑Miss Crump: No, really.
⭐Barney: You mean you don't know how to cook leg of lamb... Andy's favorite dish?
🐑Miss Crump: No, as a matter of fact, I'm a terrible cook.
Happy National Roast Leg of Lamb Day!
