Why it is important to remove skin mass/tumor on dogs?

Even small masses can become a problem because they may:

* Continue growing rapidly
* Bleed or get infected
* Cause pain or irritation
* Rupture from scratching
* Spread deeper into tissue
* Be cancerous (some skin tumors look harmless at first)

With tumors like mast cell tumors, early removal is very important because they can become more aggressive over time.

At we usually;

1. Perform a fine needle aspirate (collect cells with a needle)
2. Recommend surgical removal
3. Send it for biopsy/histopathology to identify exactly what it is
You should not wait if:

* It grows quickly
* Bleeds repeatedly
* Changes color/shape
* The dog scratches it constantly
* It smells bad or leaks fluid
* The dog becomes lethargic or loses appetite. If your pet has a mass, please make an appointment in any of our 2 convenient locations in Miami Beach or Biscayne Blvd.

Ultrasound (sonography) is one of the most powerful non-invasive diagnostic tools in modern veterinary medicine. It lets vets see inside your dog’s body in real time—without surgery, pain, or radiation.

Here’s why it’s so valuable:

1. Early & Accurate Diagnosis

Ultrasound helps detect problems before they become critical, including:

* Tumors or masses (liver, spleen, kidneys)
* Internal bleeding or fluid buildup
* Organ enlargement or abnormalities
* Infections and inflammation

This is key for conditions like urinary blockages, cysts, or abdominal pain—topics you’ve used in your clinic content.

2. Real-Time Organ Function

Unlike X-rays (static images), ultrasound shows movement and function:

* Heart beating (echocardiogram)
* Blood flow
* Digestive motion
* Bladder filling/emptying

This allows vets to evaluate how organs are actually working, not just how they look.

🐾 3. Safe & Non-Invasive

* No radiation (unlike X-rays)
* Usually no sedation needed
* Completely painless

Perfect for routine checks, senior dogs, and fragile patients

4. Pregnancy Monitoring

Ultrasound is the safest way to:

* Confirm pregnancy early
* Monitor fetal development
* Check viability of puppies

5. Guided Procedures (Higher Precision)

Ultrasound helps vets perform:

* Needle biopsies
* Fluid drainage
* Organ sampling

This increases accuracy and safety, reducing complications.

6. Faster Decisions = Better Outcomes.

Because results are immediate, vets can:

* Diagnose faster
* Start treatment sooner
* Avoid unnecessary exploratory surgery. Bring your pets to for a check up! Visit any of our two convenient locations and

At first glance, many cysts in dogs look harmless—and often they are. But leaving them alone without proper evaluation can lead to bigger problems. Here’s why removal is often recommended by our team at ;

1. Not every “cyst” is truly harmless

What looks like a simple cyst could actually be:

* A tumor (benign or malignant)
* An abscess (infection)
* An inflamed follicle or growth

Removing and analyzing it (biopsy) gives a definitive diagnosis, not guesswork.

2. They can grow and become uncomfortable

Cysts may start small but can:

* Increase in size
* Press on surrounding tissue
* Cause discomfort, especially in areas like joints, neck, or paws

3. Risk of rupture and infection

When cysts rupture:

* They release thick material under the skin
* Cause inflammation, pain, and swelling
* Can turn into serious infections or abscesses

👉 Emergency treatment is often more invasive than early removal.

4. Chronic irritation & licking

Dogs tend to:

* Lick or scratch the area
* Reopen the cyst repeatedly

This creates a cycle of:
irritation → infection → delayed healing

5. Cleaner, safer surgery when done early

Small cyst =
✔ Easier removal
✔ Less anesthesia time
✔ Faster recovery
✔ Minimal scarring

Large or infected cyst =
✖ More complex surgery
✖ Higher risk of complications

6. Improves quality of life

Especially for active dogs, cyst removal:

* Eliminates discomfort
* Prevents future complications
* Keeps skin healthy and clean

When should you consider removal?

* The lump is growing
* It becomes red, painful, or draining
* Your dog is licking it constantly
* It’s in a high-friction area
* It changes shape or texture. If you are in Miami area, schedule your appointment at any of our two convenient locations; Miami Beach or Biscayne Blvd.

Deep Dental Cleaning. Why it’s IMPORTANT

Dental disease is one of the most common problems in dogs—often starting without obvious signs.

* By age 3, most dogs have some level of periodontal disease
* Plaque → tartar → infection → damage below the gumline
* What you see on the surface is only a small part of the problem

A deep dental cleaning (under anesthesia) is the only way to:

* clean below the gums
* take dental X-rays
* detect hidden infections or bone loss

✨ Key BENEFITS

1. Stops pain you can’t see
Dogs rarely show dental pain clearly. Cleaning removes infection and inflammation.

2. Prevents tooth loss
Early treatment saves teeth and avoids extractions later.

3. Eliminates bad breath
That strong odor = bacteria. Cleaning resets oral health.

4. Protects vital organs
Bacteria from the mouth can spread to:

* heart
* kidneys
* liver

Healthy mouth = healthier life.

5. Improves quality of life
After cleaning, dogs often:

* eat better
* have more energy
* act younger

What’s included in a PROFESSIONAL cleaning

* Full oral exam under anesthesia
* Ultrasonic scaling (above & below gumline)
* Dental X-rays (critical)
* Polishing to prevent future buildup
* Extractions if needed (only if necessary)

Important note

“Non-anesthetic cleanings” (cosmetic scraping while awake):

* ❌ Do NOT clean below the gums
* ❌ Miss disease
* ❌ Can be stressful and unsafe

They are not a substitute for real veterinary dentistry.
