I've been trying to reduce my ice cream consumption this summer to that of a normal human. But I still get asked all the time where my favorite spot it. Well right here is the winner for 2026: Reese's Diary bar in Auburn.
French vanilla frozen custard twisted with homemade soft serve orange sherbet. The creamsicle. 🀀
It. Is. So. Good.
I dont specifically drive that way very often but now I make the extra trip.

Good news! I got a good check-up on the elbow and have been given the clear to use it more. πŸ₯³
This means I can start scheduling my July and onwards with chiro and dentals again. I'll be reaching out to those I had to reschedule while I was on stall rest and limited turnout. If you don't hear from me by Monday please reach out!
I attribute my quick recovery to topical Surpass, cold laser therapy, controlled exercise and a back on track brace. Gotta practice what I preach eh? πŸ€ͺ🐎

As many of you know, a few weeks ago I fell off my new horse and broke my elbow. πŸ˜– It was very unexpected as the spook did not fit at all with what I had been told about the horse and his personality that I had experienced.
So as soon as I was able to, I scoped him trying to look for answers...and he has glandular gastric ulcers!
While this is nothing to be excited about, it makes sense and would explain his out of character behavior.
Moral of the story: your horse may not just be a jerk. Always give them them the benefit of the doubt and look for a physical cause!

Looks like I picked a good time to escape New York! β˜€οΈ 😎
I'm out of town for a few more days while I recover from planning Stress Fest and also mentally prepare for the busy spring season to kick off! 🐎 🌷😬
I'm going to be a bit slower in answering messages/emails/texts but I promise I'll get caught up with everyone when I get back to normal on Monday. πŸ€“
Stay warm friends! 😘

Today was the first day that the gastroscope was back in action after taking the freezing winter off, and we had some significant findings!

The first case is a teenaged gaited pony mare who has been showing signs of flighty and nervous behavior, bolting under saddle, discomfort while being tacked up, and teeth grinding (bruxism) while standing on the cross ties. She is managed in a herd of similar horses with 24/7 access to turnout and forage. Gastroscopy confirmed the presence of classic squamous ulcers.

The second case, a young Mustang mare, has recently been displaying signs of agitation and adverse behavior under saddle, such as bucking. This mare has had a stressful early life with several significant medical experiences. She was potentially experiencing chronic pain for several months from an undiagnosed tooth fracture while in mustang holding. Her gastroscopy showed some glandular ulceration around the pyloric outflow.

Gastric ulcers were strongly suspected in both of these cases by their owners/trainers.

🚨Missing! 🚨
One surefoot x-ray block.
I've been assuming for the last 2 months that my second block was hiding somewhere in my van. I have finally gone through it enough times that I need to admit I actually left it somewhere. But my mind is a sieve and I have no idea where that is. 🫠
If I've been to your barn in the last 2 months and have talked about sure foot pads and you see this kicking around please let me know! I remember discussing surefoot pads and grabbing one block and bringing in to show people what they were like. I *think* that's the last time I had both blocks so I assume I left the one there.
Do I remember the barn? Nope.
Do I remember the client? Nope.
Is it possible that that encounter was some sort of fever dream and never happened? Yup.
Is it possible that I left it on the roof of my van while packing up and it flew off and is now living free in the wild now? Yup
