What a week it has been! ❤️
We are entering (with weather permitting) the season of fun, and boats, and BBQ... and fleas... and going to the river, and swimming... and skunks... and watermelon and family... and ticks... 🤣
Thats where groomers/pet parents minds go. So here is a reminder to check your pups for fleas/ ticks or use preventive medication/ collars.
Next... the very smelly issue. I know skunks are OUT I groomed 2 floofs yesterday who assured me they would have gotten it, too. Alas, most of the chase ends with a case of the stink. If this happens please DO NOT wash your dog.
Im not really for gate keeping and I also know this tends to happen at ridiculous times of the day so I'm attaching pictures of the solution I make and put on a DRY coat. Leave for 15 minutes. I followed up yesterday with a skunk shampoo (diluted and done 2 times) I got from the local Country Hardware store. (I was so happy to find it there!) I used my igroom conditioner to follow and try to soothe up some of the dryness because it strips a lot of the natural oils out of the coat.
I am 100% not against doing skunk baths and it is the one time I think housecall is easiest on everyone! So if you need help, have questions or just don't really want to deal with it, put your dog outside or plug your nose and shoot me a message or give me a call.
I appreciate everyone in this community and all the other businesses here that support other small businesses. I want to shout out the hardware store in Ione today. We depend on them for a lot and they really do their best to accommodate you from pet needs to projects, they have always been able to help!
