EHV-1 is highly contagious to other horses and can cause respiratory disease, such as nasal discharge, fever and coughing; infection can also result in abortion and neonatal death. The most concerning manifestations of EHV-1 infection are neurological signs, such as a wobbly gait caused by lack of coordination of the limbs, with the hind limbs often more severely affected, as well as urinary incontinence. These appear when the virus causes damage to blood vessels in the brain and spinal cord.

❤️We have had several calls and Questions about EHV. We do vaccinate here at the rescue but think of EHV as Covid but for horses. It’s a virus and this recent outbreak is a NEW STRAIN that is affecting horses that are vaccinated too!

❤️Equine Herpesvirus (EHV) is a significant concern for horse owners. This common virus can manifest in various forms, ranging from mild respiratory symptoms (like a cough or nasal discharge) to more severe neurological issues, such as Equine Herpesvirus Myeloencephalopathy (EHM), which can affect coordination and mobility. EHV is highly contagious and spreads rapidly through direct contact between horses, contaminated equipment, and even airborne particles.

❤️Prevention is paramount. Ensure your horses are vaccinated against EHV according to your vet's recommendations. Implement strict biosecurity measures, including regular disinfection of stalls and equipment. When introducing new horses to your stable, isolate them for at least three weeks to monitor for any signs of illness. Daily temperature checks can help detect early infections, allowing for prompt veterinary intervention.

Clips, ties, bathes, great with farrier, loads, saddles nicely, stands to be mounted/dismounted. Lovely walk, trot, canter. Would do fantastic in barrels, dressage, hunter jumper, eventing.

Enchanted Equestrian Center is looking to hire a working student/ young adult.
Job Duties:
Stall, Waters, barn cleaning.
Turning horses out
blanketing horses
Exercising horses
We have stalls and feed available for this position.
We also have a room for rent in our farm house.
$15 per hour, I will only require a 2 hours morning and evening usually for feeding and cleaning. Turning out horses every couple of hours, that can be a shared duty with our other employees.
Ideally we would like someone who wants to rent our room, keep their horses with them on site.
