Did you know that massage can benefit horses with sacroiliac joint issues?

SI problems are hard to diagnose and treatments include massage, limb manipulation, hot and cold therapies, laser therapy, anti-inflammatories, nutrition, specific exercise plans, etc.

When the SI joint is injured or irritated, the muscles surrounding it spasm or tighten and can create problems in the whole hind end of the horse. Massage therapy works to decrease muscle spasms, increase circulation in the area to increase the amount of cells in that area that will help with healing, which in turn takes pressure off the joint & also relieves hind end muscles that affect how the horse moves. Taping after a massage also increases the benefits.
