Dearest Family,
I am heartbroken to tell you of the passing of Our Dear Broshia Andrews. Broshia was the Mom of Yo Assum Possum, Pretty Profile (Gwynne), and KC's Goldenrod (Goldie). She was a great promoter of Regap. She Loved her dogs and her family, Kris (Todd), Scott (Karen) and her Grandchildren Grant, Noah and Gretchen.
Broshia was such a Wonderful and Sweet Lady. She was always upbeat and hysterical. Her smile lit up a room. I can't tell you how much she cracked me up. She was so creative. She could really tell a story. I enjoyed her company and her stories. Her loss will be hard on her family and friends. I Loved her and will never forget her.
She's reunited with her beloved Bruce and her many furry kids.
If you are in the area. Kris and her family will be having a service of remembrance on Saturday, December 23rd at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, IL at 2pm. If you can't join them, you can send a donation to the Church or to Regap in honor and memory of Broshia. Here is the information of her service:

Broshia R. Andrews, 81, of Washington, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at her home.

She was born October 5, 1942 in Portland, Oregon to the late Richard W. Reinke and Dolly (Emmert) Fenn. She married Bruce B. Andrews in Portland on August 28, 1965. They met at Oregon State University and shared 44 years of loving marriage. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2009.

Surviving are two children, Kris (Todd) Meier, Scott (Karen) Andrews; three grandchildren, Grant Meier, Noah and Gretchen Andrews; one brother, Arnie (Kathy) Fenn; one sister, Carla (Larry) Hall; one niece, nine nephews, and several cousins.

Broshia worked as a personal banker then administrative assistant at banks in Peoria and Delaware before retiring in 2007.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington, and former member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Delaware and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Peoria.

Broshia enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, playing the piano, singing, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

With a Broken heart, I must tell you of the passing of Our Family Member, Cheryl Smith-Josefowicz. Cheryl was a long time Regap Family Member with her husband Ken, and daughter Lucia. Cheryl was one of the Best People that I've had the pleasure to have known. She was a fighter for the underdog. She was always there for Regap if we needed anything. We only needed to ask.

Ken and Lucia would Love to have an Honor Guard for Cheryl. If you live in the area, I would greatly appreciate if you could give an hour or two.

I am going to miss my dear friend. She was an inspiration to me and to so many others. Here are photos of her Regap Greyhounds: Greys Blackwater, Reward Trent, Flint Castle, and Bold Lingo. Their first Greyhound was the Very Handsome Larry. She and her family recently adopted Barkin Larkin. She is reunited with her precious Greyhounds. My heart is broken.

Here is the information for her services:

With the Heaviest of Hearts, I must tell you about the passing of Our Dear Friend, Barb Szostak. Barb was more than a Regap Family Member, she was a Regap Warrior! She was responsible for many of you having your Beautiful Dogs. She was one of the Representatives for Regap in the areas of Joliet, Countryside, Darien, Frankfort, Orland Park, Hickory Hills, Western Springs and so many more. I only needed to ask and she was there.

Barb and Larry always took in our hard to adopt dogs. They gave them a Wonderful Life and the changes after being a Szostak was night and day. I remember this one dog Sarg who just had to have Barb. She came into the kennel to look at the newest dogs. Sarg saw her and put his head through her purse handle and walked her outside. We laughed so hard. He was meant to be hers! Convincing Larry was easy. Anything Barb wanted Larry knew he had no choice. The hard to place dogs just looked at Barb and she knew they had to help them. I can't remember how many they've had over the years, but it has to be in the teens.

She Loved God, Her Family and her Greyhounds. There was never a time that she didn't have a Big Huge Smile on her face. She gave incredible hugs too! She also helped many kids throughout her time as a teacher. She was always there to help them better themselves. She was a True fighter in everything that she did. I can't list all of the things, there is not enough room.

My heart breaks for her Larry,

She was a Very Special Woman and Mother. A bright light has left us, but she is Home now. I can't imagine how many Dogs met her at the Rainbow Bridge to Thank her for the Life that she helped them find. I'm so Grateful to God for sending her our way. I'll miss her. She was my friend. Rest in Peace my darling Barb.

Heartbroken in her loss,
Mona

There is a service today. Here is the information if you can make it.

Cherished mother to Tim (Kate) Szostak, Kathy (Robert) Fellows, Andy (Erin) Szostak. Beloved grandmother to Ruby and Julia Szostak and loving aunt to Niece Jen (Pat) Logan. Barbara was a proud teacher of 40 plus years with the Archdiocese of Chicago, devoting most of her career teaching math at SS Cyril and Methodius School in Lemont, IL.
