Is Snow Melt Safe for Pets?\nPets can suffer from foot irritation and cracking due to salt and chemical snow melt on sidewalks. Licking these substances off their paws can lead to mouth burns and gastrointestinal upset. To prevent this, use salt to melt ice instead of chemical ice melts. If irritation occurs, wash and apply a topical pad ointment to your pet's feet.
