Equine Influenza is showing its face in Wyoming, and boy it is ugly!
We know that everyone is taking horses out right now for ropings, brandings, rodeos, gathering, and sales. Keep an eye on your herd, avoid sick horses, and keep your sick horses home and isolated.
Equine Influenza is HIGHLY contagious. Avoid sharing water sources, buckets, halters, trailers, tack, etc. with sick horses. Also, do not handle sick horses and then handle healthy horses. Sick horses should not be penned with fenceline contact to healthy horses
If your horse is showing symptoms of Equine Influenza, please contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.
The best prevention method is vaccination which we can either dispense or give in-clinic.
