Two Pony Gardens

Two Pony is a farm that practices, encourages, and teaches organic gardening methods. Our main crops are dahlias and heirloom tomatoes.

We offer and grow over 100 varieties of pre-started dahlias that are ready for gardeners to plant. We also sell cut flowers as they bloom. We grow over 50 varieties of heirloom tomatoes, selling pre-started tomato plants in the spring and tomatoes as they ripen. We grow green, black, white, pink, orange, yellow and of course, red tomatoes. We deliver conditioned, cut dahlias to local restaurants f

Growing Dahlias: Check out the triangle supports for dahlias. We alternate them with 2”x2”x7’ wood stakes. For fertilizing, hydrolyzed liquid fish (not as smelly as fish emulsion), and Shur-gro natural-based dry fertilizer from Canton Mills in Minnesota City and mulch with hand-harvested milfoil which has been removed from local lakes. Dahlias are on FIRE! We are selling dahlias from the cooler at the farm AND from in Minneapolis! Come now! The frost is coming and these babies need to be enjoyed! Life at Two Pony is a bit quieter these days but the real work worth doing is feeding our community better food and reminding people to slow down to enjoy it. Start by super slowly driving down Deer Hill Rd and then shop with the woods around you, spend money that will support the type of land management that benefits us all. Bring home food that was grown with care, never a chemical sprayed and let the impeccable late summer vibes take over!

PLANT SALE THIS WEEKEND!! May 16th, 17th and 18th from 11-4. Lisa has been hard at work in the greenhouse this spring and we are finally ready to send these beautiful plant babies home with you. If you’ve had a Two Pony Dahlia or Tomato plant in the past, you KNOW how amazing they are and how quickly they sell out. It’s warm and cozy in the greenhouse and we are so excited to see you all. 💚💚💚

THE NEWS YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR: The BIG Two Pony Plant Sale is ON this weekend!

WHERE: The Two Pony Greenhouse - 1700 Deer Hill Road, Long Lake , MN 55356

Please be respectful of neighbors and animals on Deer Hill-drive slowly and be careful on the Two Pony driveway- there are some blind turns and a family of turkeys has been hanging out in the road. Gobble Gobble.

WHEN: This Thursday, Friday & Saturday 11AM - 4PM!

We will have limited number of boxes for carting plants so bring a box if you have one handy/come early if you have your heart set on a specific variety.
WHAT: Hyper-local, super healthy plants grown by hand with love and the highest of standards! Two Pony pre-started dahlias, all the tomatoes one could ever dream of: organic, heirloom varieties and dependable organic hybrids started in the best and most thoughtfully mixed soil, lots of pictures and written descriptions to help you make your garden dreams a reality. There will also be herbs to boot! We will also have limited quantities of Two Pony’s Favorite Honey from our beekeeper friends at Stray Pine Apiaries.

Lisa went a little bit overboard this year with seed starting. We think she may be a bit sad about the other ways in which we've minimized the "business" part of Two Pony, as part of her processing and coping mechanism she grew a bunch of enormous tomato plants. The plants we've rehomed to The Foundry Home Goods are the best, the biggest, a great representative of our favorite varieties, these plants are huge and ready to go home with seasoned gardeners or newbies to growing your own! Thanks for helping us make some space in the greenhouse because we are hoping that you'll want to come out at the of the month when our entire stock is ready to be adopted. Please use the provided sheets to track your tomato purchase and bring just the paper to the counter when you are ready to check out, so you don't have to schlep plants back and forth, making it easier for the limited shop staff.

Our daughter brand, The Foundry Home Goods, is the brainchild of our farm matriarch Lisa’s daughter — > Anna. And to us, here at the farm, TFHG is also, sort of, a mother brand, in-that Anna has been inspiring Lisa++ with her business prowess for over a decade.

Anna opened her dreamy paradise to provide utilitarian yet beautiful products that make domesticity feel luxurious and worthy of doing well. Her store contains things only made with the highest ethical standards, if a product is harmful for you, the producer or the planet you can be sure not to find it at TFHG.

Right now our🤍 ‘daughter’ 🤍needs your assistance! Please follow because TFHG’s main account is currently a captive for ransom. We kid not. And during this, the most important season for a small business, it is no joke how important each platform can be to a business. A lot of you already know our Anna and TFHG so you’ll be glad to know of this update for those new to her store, it’s right off of St. Anthony Main!

Each and every dollar you spend this season we hope you are spending from the perspective of a Two Pony Person. I know deep down that all of us want what is good for the collective. is not just a slogan but it is the investment that allows your neighbors to thrive and in turn the whole neighborhood thrives.

Spending at big box stores where products have outsourced their labor to nations with human rights violations isn’t up-to-par with who we know you all to be. Spending your hard earned money to support consumption without standards is not what we are doing in 2023 or 2024. So even though we have ended an era at our farm we want you to know that Two Pony People prevail and we aren’t going any where. The farms work will continue and we will be here to continue to remind you all who you are and what you care about. More important than a ‘like’ or a ‘follow’ this season is a dollar spent; This holiday season show up for your community however you can! We thank you and love you all!
