FYI! Ticks are out and they are HUNGRY! I know everyone was hoping that the hard winter would have killed them BUT they are strong little arachnids and are more than capable of a dormant state under 40 degrees. When ambient temperatures exceed 40 degrees, they come out to feed!

At our office, we have found Lyme's, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma in our patients (all tick-related diseases) through yearly screening with heartworm blood tests.

Though topical medications kill ticks EVENTUALLY, they do not kill them sooner than the time they need to transmit a disease (24 hours). Oral medications will kill Ticks within just a couple hours. There are four drugs in the class of oral flea and tick medications.

As the 4th of July approaches us, some of our furry friends struggle with the loud sounds of fireworks. If your pet displays signs of fear and anxiety this time of year and you feel he/she may benefit from medication, please give us a call. If your pet is already on medication for anxiety, make sure you have enough to get you through the weekend.

Our hours will not be affected by the holiday. We are in the office today(Thursday) until 6 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and back in on Monday at 9 a.m. Have a wonderful holiday weekend and stay safe!

Happy Valentine's Day! Be sure to smooch the greatest loves in your life today and EVERY day!

Does your Valentine have stinky breath? It happens to be National Pet Dental Health Month. We recommend daily dental care for your pets which could be feeding enzyme coated chew treats, allowing rawhide chewing daily, using enzymatic solution to spray or wipe teeth, and maybe even teeth brushing!

Some dogs and cats are more prone to plaque buildup and periodontal disease than others, so if you see or smell things coming from your pet's mouth that you are concerned about, please do not hesitate to call and schedule a dental consultation.

RAWHIDE Ground Rules - *Preferrably Made in America* Use the largest rawhide your pet will chew. Once the end starts getting soft and your pet can pull off large pieces [to choke on or get a belly ache] take it away and allow it to dry out and re-harden before returning it back to him/her the next day.

**We do not recommend Greenies, hooves, antlers, marrow bones, Nyla-bones, or biscuits to clean teeth. **

Happy New Year everyone! We are so happy when our patients stay healthy, especially through the holidays. For those of you who missed our bit of holiday cheer or don't need veterinary care in the near future, we would like to share a picture of our reception area!

The waiting room is off the side of this area and is very spacious as we have 4000 sq ft. of space to spread out, maintain distance, and keep each other healthy!

The first week was a success! We appreciate everyone being SO PATIENT as we navigated the new system and started figuring things out! We were so HAPPILY reunited with patients/clients we've cared for over the past 10 years (elsewhere) and met some new wonderful people, as well. We look forward to meeting more 4 legged family members of our community and we cannot wait to make new memories with your pet in the new year.
