🐾 From the streets of Philadelphia to Howard University… introducing K-9 Rex. 💙❤️
Ten months ago, we got a call about a stray Belgian Malinois puppy running loose through the streets of Philadelphia. We were able to secure him, bring him into the rescue, and start figuring out exactly what this little guy was meant to do.
One of our good friends and incredible fosters, who also happens to be on the board of Snout Scouts, an organization that trains rescue dogs in detection work, agreed to take Rex on.
For the last 10 months, Rex and his foster mom have worked tirelessly, day in and day out. Countless hours went into building his confidence, sharpening his skills, and turning a stray puppy from Philly into a confident, trustworthy and fulfilled detection K-9.
And all of that hard work has officially paid off.
Rex has been placed with Howard University, where he will become their VERY FIRST explosives and fi****ms detection K-9!
We could not be more proud.
We are incredibly honored to support Howard University as they begin this brand new K-9 program, and even more grateful that they were willing to give a rescue dog the opportunity to prove just how capable these dogs can be when someone gives them a chance.
This is why we fight so hard for working breeds. Sometimes the dog who is “too much” for one environment is exactly the dog someone else has been searching for. They don’t always need to be changed. Sometimes they just need the right job.
