Last month we helped 211 patients at our clinic. That includes 149 pets from shelter and rescue partners and 94 community cats. Thanks to all of our partners and trappers working to improve lives for these animals!

While our clinic was closed this week, we invited animal welfare professionals from surrounding counties to join us for continuing education presented by our Chief of Education and Training Sarah Babcock. Our own staff were joined by those serving in animal control agencies for Powhatan, Hanover and Prince George for a presentation on dog body language.

Long before a humane trap ends up in the hands of one of our veterinary assistants like Austin, lots of planning and preparation goes into trapping and transporting a community cat to our clinic. Learn what happens behind the scenes and how you can be part of the compassionate solution for free-roaming, unowned cats. Our next volunteer-led Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return workshop is Wednesday, May 14 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Last Friday, we teamed up with the Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital at the Richmond SPCA and local Banfield Pet Hospitals for a high-volume Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) day. 🐱🐾

Our goal? To help as many community cats as possible by providing sterilization and vaccinations. Huge shoutout to Dr. Lindsey Buracker, the amazing Banfield Pet Hospital team, dedicated community cat caregivers and our nonprofit rescue partners for making this day possible. Thanks to their help and our wonderful staff, we were able to sterilize and vaccinate 128 community cats! 💙

If you're ready to get involved with TNVR, now is the perfect time as we will have our next Introduction to Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return workshop on March 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. Spots fill up quickly, so be sure to register today!

Sammy here with an important message!

In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we will be closed today to honor his legacy and reaffirm our commitment to serving our community with compassion. We encourage you to take this time to reflect on how we can all work together to make a lasting difference.

MLK Day is also recognized as a National Day of Service, and we are incredibly grateful for the dedication of our volunteers and community members who work tirelessly to support our furry friends. Your efforts, whether helping a neighbor or a pet in need, truly make an impact. As Dr. King once said, “No work is insignificant. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”

We'll return to our regular hours tomorrow, ready to keep working toward a brighter future for all the pets and people we serve. Thank you for being part of the change! 💙

We're celebrating our licensed veterinary technicians today for LVT week!
Crystal is our LVT and is a huge animal lover and leads our surgical floor with positivity and kindness. Crystal has been helping train Austin to transition from a CSR to a VA, and practice skills that Austin is currently learning in school. Austin started their LVT program over the summer and is beginning to dig into the core of their education and learn practical skills related to their curriculum.
