Richardsons Rescue

Richardsons Rescue 501(c)3 cat rescue organization dedicated to rehoming cats through our in-home foster care program. We are not a drop off shelter. It takes a village . . .

We're an active TNR group involved in community outreach, too. Any intake requests must be made through our website. Our volunteers reach out to members of the community in need of help with stray and/or feral cat overpopulation due to abandonment and neglect. We participate in Trap, Neuter, Return and pull as many cats or kittens we can with a good demeanor to rehome. It takes a village because w

ithout the help of the veterinarians and clinics, donations from the public, dedicated foster volunteers, and a caring community willing to adopt, we wouldn't be able to save so many lives. Thank you for doing your part.

When applying to adopt one of our rescued cats, please keep the following in mind:

Please complete your application using your full legal name. Applications submitted with incomplete or obviously false information will not be considered.
Full first and last names are required for all references. We are not sharing anyone’s information publicly, and basic contact information is already easily searchable through public records and directories.
If your current or previous pets have not been kept reasonably up to date on veterinary care and vaccinations, your application is unlikely to be approved. Proper medical care is a basic responsibility of pet ownership.
If you are currently struggling financially, this may not be the best time to take on the additional expense and responsibility of a new pet. Emergencies, vet care, food, and supplies can add up quickly.
Please understand that our responsibility is to protect the cats in our care. Many of them have already experienced neglect, abandonment, trauma, or instability. We are extremely careful about where they are placed and look for adopters who will provide patience, commitment, and lifelong care.
Our volunteers work incredibly hard to provide safe, loving environments for these animals. Since we do not know applicants personally, we rely on honest communication and cooperation throughout the adoption process.

Bottom line: rescue organizations are made up of hardworking people doing their very best for animals that desperately need protection and stability. We simply ask for understanding, transparency, and cooperation before entrusting someone with a cat we care deeply about.

UPDATE: ADOPTED

This is Barney, a large 9 month old lynx point. He is a little quirky (aren't all siamese?!). He is shy for the first ten minutes he meets you, then he becomes very loving and THEN he wants to play and nibble on your fingers. He is a little rambunctious so he would not do well in a house with young children. Respectfull tweens and above are ok. Since he came from a household with other cats, he would be happy to be someones friend.

We interrupt you Saturday night to show you a hard working lady! The sweet Tender Vittles is working a double shift at the biscuit baking factory tonight! Seriously this girl is the absolute best! Shes young, only about a year old. In foster she is currently coexisting fine with dogs and cats but she also could hold her own as an only cat. She's people oriented and loves to cuddle. She has so much sweetness with just a little touch of calico sass to her as well! We will post pics of this girl in the comments! Just keep in mind the pictures don't do her justice she is gorgeous in person!

Meet Scotty, the gentle, sensitive soul who is looking for a person who understands that trust takes time but is so worth the wait. Scotty is not feral, but he is a cat who prefers calm, patience, and a slow approach. He is not a fan of being picked up, though he will allow it, and he has never scratched or bitten. He is simply a sweet, submissive boy who likes to move at his own pace.

Scotty absolutely loves Churus, and they are one of the quickest ways to win his heart. He also does wonderfully with other cats and would make an excellent companion for a friendly, confident kitty who would not mind a quiet buddy.

Right now Scotty feels safest in the foster’s kitten room, and a similar setup at least initially to help him succeed in his new home. He will need someone patient enough to start him in a small, secure space and let him tell you when he is ready for more. Once he feels comfortable and knows he can trust you, Scotty blossoms, leaning into pets, enjoying chin scritches, giving little licks, and purring his appreciation.

If you are looking for a gentle companion who will reward your patience with genuine affection, Scotty might be the perfect match.

Kitten season has us absolutely swamped! We are bursting at the seams with moms and their babies, tiny orphans, and more kittens than we can count. Our space is stretched beyond capacity and we are truly in need of help to keep everyone fed and cared for.

Our most immediate needs are adult pate, and adult dry food for our mom cats

We are so deeply grateful for the support you gave us last year. You helped us stock up on kitten food in a big way, and that carried us through so many lives saved. Right now, though, we have a new wave of hungry moms and fragile little orphans who depend on us completely, and our supplies are running low again.

If you are able to help in any way, please know it truly makes a difference. Every can, every bag, every donation helps us keep these little lives safe, warm, and fed.

Shop our amazon wish list to ship life saving supplies straight to our fosters at www.bit.ly/helpRR

Can't afford to shop right now, like, comment, and share this post so that it can be seen and that helps us too!

Thank you for being part of their story and for helping us care for them when they need it most. 🐾

SNARK WARNING!!!!!!

Ah yes… kitten season—that magical time of year when rescues are overflowing with tiny lives and an extra helping of human audacity.

Just a gentle reminder on how to really get our attention:

By all means, call at 2:00 AM, then follow it up with a profanity-laced text at 8:00 AM because we didn’t respond while, you know… sleeping. Nothing says “please help me” quite like verbal abuse. We absolutely prioritize those.

And those pesky instructions asking you to text or email with details? Totally optional. “I need to get rid of my cat ASAP” is clearly all the information anyone could ever need. Age? Medical history? Behavior? Personality? Irrelevant. Our volunteer team is actually made up of highly trained mind readers.

Oh—and please, keep the creative writing coming:

“Allergies” that appeared overnight
Pets that magically changed age
Sudden moves to “no pet housing” that were apparently a complete surprise

We truly admire the storytelling. It pairs nicely with the idea that a living animal is as disposable as last year’s throw pillow.

And nothing motivates us more than a good ultimatum:
“If you don’t take this animal immediately, I’ll abandon or harm it.”

Yes. Threatening an innocent animal because you’re inconvenienced is definitely award-worthy behavior. Truly outstanding citizenship.

Reality check (no snark):
Rescues are overwhelmed this time of year. We want to help—we really do—but we are juggling massive volumes of calls, emails, and emergencies every single day. You are not the only one reaching out, even if it feels urgent (and we know it does).

Clear, honest information and basic kindness go a whole lot further than demands and threats.
