Mission Statement

​As an organization, Pets In Need In Southern Maryland will:

Help relieve the suffering of and prevent cruelty to dogs identified as pit bulls and mixes by providing public education and awareness. Help reduce the number of homeless pit bulls and mixes with information to the public regarding spay or neuter grants. Facilitate the rescue and placement of homeless dogs identified

primarily as pit bulls and mixes thereof, into responsible homes.

Participate in fundraising in order to provide caretakers of pit bulls and mixes thereof, with the means to:

- spay or neuter
- access quality and accurate educational information
- access to resources targeting responsible rescue and placements
- access to vaccination clinics.

Another great hound is 3 year old Gomer Pyle. He has a passion for playtime that is absolutely contagious. While some dogs love a standard tennis ball, his favorite toy is his donated Jolly Egg. If you have ever seen a dog try to herd a giant, slippery plastic egg, you know it is quite entertaining. Gomer loves it so much that he keeps the game going inside his kennel.
Gomer has all the energy and charm you could ever want for backyard games and weekend adventures. He is ready to bring his happy, toy-loving self out of the shelter and into a backyard of his very own. ❤️ Please come meet this handsome, hilarious boy today between 12-4pm at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter. If you bring along a toy, he may become your best friend.

Several of us involved in rescue have recently started Friends of CCACC (Charles County Animal Care Center — formerly TCAS). I’ve sent out invites, but I realize not everyone may receive them or recognize that this page supports our local shelter.
