🐾 WELCOME TO BOARD & TRAIN, COSMO! 🐾
Say hello to Cosmo, a handsome 7-month-old Golden Retriever who just joined us for his Board & Train! 💛🐶
According to his owners, Cosmo is overall a pretty good young boy — he just has a few areas that need some work before that puppy energy turns into 70 pounds of adult Golden Retriever energy! 😂
🏠 At home, Cosmo can get a little rowdy and doesn’t always listen when asked. He can be destructive, likes to do a little counter surfing, and definitely has some puppy manners to clean up. But overall, for a 7-month-old pup, he’s not doing too badly.
🦮 Outside is where things get much more challenging. Cosmo pulls HARD on the leash and his listening skills pretty much disappear once the distractions come out. Recently, he got his owner wrapped up in the leash and pulled so hard that he took her to the ground, causing her to hit her head pretty hard. That’s when pulling goes from being annoying to becoming a real safety issue.
Cosmo also has some confidence building to do. Meeting new people can be pretty intimidating for him. Instead of wanting to say hello, he’ll often become very timid and try to escape — sometimes hitting the end of the leash hard in an attempt to get away.
Over the next couple of weeks, we’re going to be working on:
🐾 Better leash manners and a reliable heel
🐾 Listening around distractions
🐾 Recall and overall obedience
🐾 Impulse control and better manners
🐾 Building confidence around new people and environments
🐾 Teaching him how to be calmer, more focused, and make better decisions
Cosmo is still young, which makes this the perfect time to get ahead of these behaviors and give him the structure and confidence he needs as he grows up.
He’s got the sweet Golden Retriever personality — now we’re going to help him add some manners, confidence, and control to go along with it! 😎🐕💪
Welcome to training, Cosmo! Let’s get to work! 🎓🐾
