The staff spotlight for August is Helena. She has been working here since April of 2024. Although she is not here all year round, she does come back in the summer and over holiday breaks.
When Helena is here she always makes sure to get to know each dog and cat that she meets. Her favorite part about the job is seeing new dogs come out of their shell while in group. She also loves watching the puppies grow and learn. With a little extra help and guidance, she gets to be a part of that process which is an aspect about the job that we all enjoy. When it comes to new employees her advice is “don’t be overwhelmed by a larger group of dogs, work with them and learn each of their personalities.” Helena has shown so much improvement within herself from when she first started till now. Since she is ambitious and compassionate, it has helped her learn and grow. We always appreciate her leading a helping hand when needed. She will always jump right in to help with an activity and tries her best to get each dog involved. Her favorite activity here is pool time. She enjoys watching the dogs swim and she sometimes will jump in with them. The dogs and cats appreciate the love and care that she gives to them.
When it comes to her personal life, she has a few pets of her own. She has a cat named Cannoli, who is a Maine C**n. She also has 2 goldfish and 2 hermit crabs as well. From time to time she helps her grandparents take care of their dog Harry Potter. He is a sweet cavapoo. Helena is a Pre-veterinary medicine major with a minor in psychology. With this she does work with dairy cows quite often at school. Two accomplishments that she is proud of are graduating high school with Academic excellence and receiving an award for it. She is also on track to graduate a year early from under grad. She is honest and works hard to achieve her goals. Back in 2024 before she worked here, she interned at a veterinary clinic. She got to observe and gain more knowledge that has helped her with her studies. Outside of her work life, she does enjoy time to relax. Typically she enjoys reading a good book. Thrifting is an activity that she is fond of. She likes to go to antique and thrift stores and browse around. She also enjoys playing tennis as well. Helena does like to garden. Whether it be vegetables or flowers, she loves to watch her plants grow.
We are grateful that Helena is a part of our Greenlin family. We appreciate the work that she puts into her job. We look forward to seeing where life takes her.

The pet of the month for August is Ally. She is a one and a half year old Shepherd mix. She has been coming to Greenlin for a year now.
Ally is always super happy to get here. She makes sure to greet us quickly before rushing back to be with her friends. Her favorite part about being here is mingling with everyone. She loves to play chase and run around outside. Her energetic and happy personality is infectious to those around her. Ally is sweet and spunky and is always ready to have fun. She likes to make new friends and is always looking for another dog to join her on her adventures. Ally loves to be with Heidi, Scooby and Mambo. They all enjoy playing together whether they are in the playroom or outside. Ally’s other new found favorite activity is swimming. When we go over to the pool, she is always dancing at the gate. She goes straight for the pool and jumps in. She will do a few laps, get out and run with her friends and then jump right back in. Ally likes to participate in different activities. No matter what she is doing, she is having a great time. She always has a big smile on her face. She loves to get attention from the staff. When we run or swim with her, that is probably her favorite way to bond with us. Of course she loves snuggles and pets as well. She is always happy to spend time with us.
Outside of Greenlin she is full of energy. Her perfect day would consist of her running around outside, looking for sticks to chew and playing with other dogs. Of course she loves to play with her toys too. One toy is not just enough for her. Ally will usually hold a toy in her mouth which she pushes or kicks her ball around. She likes to play soccer inside with her ball. Any squeaky rubber toy will always catch her eye. One thing that she enjoys eating is ice cubes. She loves to play with them and crunch them up. She enjoys playing in the yard and getting wet with the hose. As long as her parents are around, she is happy. They love how loyal she is to them. Ally knows the routine and makes sure to follow it which is something unique about her. Her parents say she knows when it is bed time when she sees her parents get ice and a glass of water and start up the steps. She never wants to miss a beat of what is happening around her. In the morning her parents don't need an alarm. Ally lets her parents know that it is time to pet her. She will roll on her back and wait for her good morning, belly rubs.
We are so glad that Ally has joined our Greenlin family. We can’t wait to watch you learn and grow in the years to come. Here is to all the new memories that we will make with you.. We love you.
