This is where it all starts. 🤠❤️

The future of rodeo starts right here—with the young cowboys and cowgirls watching, learning, and falling in love with the western way of life.

They may be little now, but before we know it, they’ll be the ones carrying on the traditions, filling the arena, and keeping rodeo alive for generations to come.

The future of rodeo is looking pretty dang bright. 🐎✨

✨️Committee member spotlight! ✨️

Rodeo season takes a whole lot of heart, dedication, long hours, and people who are willing to step up wherever they’re needed—and this year, Spike Schumer did exactly that.

When our committee needed someone to take on a little more than originally planned, Spike stepped into the President role on short notice and gave it everything he had. He took on the responsibility during one of the busiest times of our year and helped lead our committee through an incredible rodeo season.

There are so many things that happen behind the scenes that most people will never see—the decisions, phone calls, problem solving, long days, late nights, and simply making sure everything keeps moving forward. Spike took it all in stride and was right there working alongside everyone else every step of the way.

We couldn’t let this season come to a close without recognizing just how grateful we are for him. ❤️

Spike, thank you for stepping up, for leading with heart, for supporting this committee, and for helping us put on a rodeo we are incredibly proud of.

Sometimes the people who make the biggest difference are the ones who simply see where they’re needed and step in.

We are pretty darn lucky to have you as part of our rodeo family.

🤠 Happy Friday from your Yamhill County Rodeo Committee! ❤️

As we roll into the weekend, our thoughts are with the communities, families, firefighters, first responders, ranchers, and everyone impacted by the wildfires burning across Oregon.

We’re hoping and praying for cooler conditions, calmer winds, and most importantly, more containment in the days ahead. 🙏🔥

A huge thank you to the men and women working long, exhausting hours on the fire lines and behind the scenes to protect our communities, homes, livestock, and land. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.

Please stay safe, stay aware, and look out for one another. That’s what strong communities do. ❤️
From all of us on the Yamhill County Rodeo Committee — have a safe Friday and weekend 🇺🇸🤠

Ever wonder what goes through someone's mind when they wake up and say, "You know what sounds like a great idea today? Climbing on the back of a 2,000-pound bull." 🤠🐂

We may never understand it... but we're sure glad they do it! 💥

Bull riders are a different kind. They put it all on the line every time that chute opens, giving us eight seconds of grit, adrenaline, and unforgettable action.

Some call it crazy... we call it rodeo. 🤘🔥

Yamhill County Fair & Rodeo

08/05/2026

A message from our president.

As today has not started well at all with the sudden passing of our Mother and as the day progressed my thoughts of being to myself has changed slightly.
I appreciate all of the calls, texts and messages. Although I'm not in a place to talk about this morning I do realize that their are others that may be in need soon.

I spoke to someone I know that works with Clackamas County earlier about the possibility of evacuations and the availability of the Yamhill County Fairgrounds for the evacuees and animals as the Fairgrounds in Canby and at State fair may not be available due to the upcoming fairs and the preparations for that.
In the spirit of mom I knew what she would want me to do. I could hear her telling me "Don't worry about me, Go help the people that need it".
I immediately called my Director at St. Paul Rodeo Paul Charron and asked him to contact the person to see what she needed or what we could do as the St. Paul Rodeo Association to help out.

I told her I would also get in touch with Fair management at Yamhill County and let her know after I spoke to them.
I met with our Fair manager and one of the Board members who was in the office at the time.

I want to let people know that the Yamhill County Fairgrounds is prepared and ready to help. We are open for those displaced if that need comes.

I also confirmed with Director Paul Charron that St. Paul Rodeo grounds is also open for evacuees livestock.

I want to put it out there that I am available with my stock trailer to run out and help haul livestock if needed. What I would like to do is compile a list of others from Yamhill County that would be available to haul animals to our Fairgrounds if needed.

If you would like to be added to the list I ask that you text me the following information. Please do not call. It will be much easier to have the information in text.

Name
Area you are located
Style of trailer horse/livestock?
And trailer size

My mother Sally Ward instilled in me a spirit to help others and I know no better way than to do that now.

I am proud to be part of 2 rodeo organizations that care about their communities.

This was day two of fhe Sheriff's Office K-9 Demonstration, and they sure did not disappoint!

We are still in awe of the skill, discipline, and teamwork these handlers and their K-9 partners displayed. Watching the trust and communication between each deputy and their dog was truly remarkable, and it gave our community a firsthand look at the dedication that goes into keeping us safe.

Thank you to the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office for taking the time to share your knowledge and showcase the incredible work your K-9 units do every day.

Please join us in giving these outstanding handlers and their four-legged partners a huge round of applause! 👏🐕🇺🇸
