JOB SUMMARY:

We at McMinnville Veterinary Hospital are looking for a full-time experienced Certified Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant. You will work closely with patients, doctors, receptionists and clients.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

-Greeting clients, taking a detailed history, obtaining temperature, pulse and respiration of their pet(s)
-The ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
-Accurately and professionally engage in client communication
-Appropriately handle/restrain patients for treatments and procedures
-Assisting in surgery and with dentals
-Obtaining digital radiographs
-Caring for hospitalized and postoperative patients
-Performing venipunctures and limited in-house lab work
-Placing intravenous catheters
-Scheduling/confirming appointments as well as triaging phone calls
-Effectively communicating via fax and email
-Processing payments/explain invoice items if needed
-Handling of prescriptions
-Cleaning/stocking

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

-Minimum 1 year Veterinary experience (preferred but not required)
-Possess genuine care and concern for clients and their pets
-Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented in a fast paced environment and able to remain calm and communicate effectively while under pressure
-Ability to work well in a small team setting
-Maintain a friendly, empathetic and positive attitude
-Work with initiative, responsibility and pride
-Have superb client communication skills
-Be punctual and have reliable transportation

QUALIFICATIONS:

*Ability to multi-task. Manages multiple tasks at one time; quickly and accurately shifts attention among tasks under distracting conditions without the appearance of frustration or the loss of accuracy
*Communication - Reads, writes and speaks fluent English, using appropriate grammar, vocabulary and spelling is a MUST. Medical terminology is a plus!
*Organizational ability - Demonstrates a systematic approach in carrying out assignments. Is very orderly and excels at cutting through confusion and turning chaos into order.
*Problem solving skills - Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Translates problems into practical solutions.
*Client service skills – Communicates confidently and accurately to clients, consistently ensures the team provides the client with attentive, courteous and informative service and gains and shows personal satisfaction from delivering great service.
*Intellectual ability - Accurately and consistently follows instructions delivered in an oral, written or diagram format. Can provide directions.
*Mathematical ability - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and to compute rate, ratio and percent
*Computer skills - Comfortably and confidently uses a computer and specialized software (Microsoft Word, Excel). Learn and adapt to online protocols.

HOURS: 36+, with likely 1-2 Saturday’s 8-noon
