⭐️ Rehoming Post ⭐️

Retired brood doe turned house bunny, we love this sweet girl to pieces but we do not fit the lifestyle she needs any longer and she deserves more attention and time than we can offer. She comes with her entire setup: food, treats, litter, 2 washable rugs, snuffle mat, an under cage waterproof liner, the whole nine yards.

She is about 75% litter box trained, if someone can invest more time into being consistent with her we are confident she will succeed. We have unpredictable schedules and as such have not been home often enough to work with her consistently.

As for the little lady herself, she is well socialized with dogs and cats, extremely affectionate, and will give kisses. She loves to have her entire face held and pet, her favorite treats are cilantro, oats, and strawberries in moderation. She is not destructive, but she is a rabbit so toys and chews are a must to discourage bad teething behavior. She does not spray, but she is still having some accidents outside of the box.

**Rehoming fee will apply.**

Our waitlist will be closing tonight at 6PM Central Time (CT). We are grateful with the influx of applicants and we will be doing our best to get back to everyone who applied as quickly as we can. We do have more families who applied than kits available, so we will unfortunately not be able to match a new companion to everyone who applied. We will be trying to match the kits we have to the families whose requested personality is the closest match to set both out adopters and our rabbits up for success.

We have had 50+ messages since we announced that these two litters will be our last and that we are retiring from breeding, so there is a lot to get back to and sort out!

We have not yet shared this announcement on this page, but after much reflection, we have decided to close our doors in 2025. This decision has been a long time coming, and while it’s bittersweet, we are ready to step away from this incredible journey. We are immensely proud of everything we’ve achieved, the amazing people and families we’ve met, and the growth we’ve seen in our community.

Over the years, we have dedicated ourselves to raising competitive, healthy, and wonderfully tempered rabbits. However, the time has come for us to turn the page and embrace new opportunities. We will have two final litters available before we officially end our breeding of Holland Lops for the foreseeable future.

It has been a privilege to see our rabbits thrive in their new homes, whether with show families or as beloved pets. We wish continued success and happiness for all our bunnies and their owners. If you’d like to share photos or stories of your cherished moments with your HLH family member, we would love to see how they’re doing in their homes. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.

Life has been continuously throwing us curve balls, from job changes to injuries, but we will be replying to those who have been long awaiting DMs over the next few days. We are finally getting to the point of having established and regular schedules, so it should become easier for us to manage social media once again on top of our work, personal, and just general animal husbandry lives!

We do have a litter who will be looking for new homes very soon, all are boys! 🫣

We are so sorry for our absence, we are working hard to reply to everyone and get back on track. We had some unexpected life changes but we are excited for what is to come.

We have just invested in a new building to finish out an even nicer space for our rabbits, and we brought in some exciting new genetics at Nationals this year. A junior buck we produced did end up placing top ten at Nationals under a youth breeder, so we are happy to take steps to further improve our lines. 🙂

⭐️ WAITLIST CLOSED ⭐️
Please read the post in it’s entirety.

We have a wonderful litter of THREE kits ready for waitlist applications; pickup for these kits is estimated to be the weekend of the 17 in May. We have two orange bucks, and one harlequin doe.

By being approved for our waitlist you are securing a pick of this litter. Please do not apply if you are not prepared to bring a rabbit into your home, we only take as many slots as we have kits available. This application form will be available for 48 hours.

Please note that applying does not mean that you are automatically approved for a pick of the litter. We will reach out to families within 24 hours of their application, but we may have more applicants than kits available: If this occurs we will reach out in order and then inform all applicants individually if there are no longer spots available. We want to thank everyone for their interest in bringing one of our rabbits into their rabbitry and or home! We will be announcing our waitlist opening date/time in the 2-3 days. We as of now only have *one* litter born for Spring 2024, our second planned litter ended up being a false positive, so we had to rework our schedules: that’s the fun of working with animals, nothing ever goes to plan!

We are looking forward to showing you our upcoming kits soon, and for those who will be there, seeing you at the HLRSC 2024 Nationals in April!

03/24/2024

With Easter right around the corner, it is time for our annual Easter bunny post! We at HLH Rabbitry do not support the sale or purchase of bunnies as Easter presents, we do not offer any rabbits for sale in the time surrounding the holiday. This is a blanket statement and how we have decided to conduct ourselves for the best interest of our animals. If you are looking into getting your new forever friend, make sure you do it ethically, no ethical preservation breeder who is meeting the Standard of Perfection for their breed is going to plan their all their litters around selling for Easter. Do not support backyard breeders looking to make profit off of unsound and poorly bred animals.

Rabbits are not an “easy” pet, nor are they short lived. Upwards of 80% of all rabbits sold during the Easter season will be abandoned, surrendered to shelters, or die due to neglect within their first year of life. Here are a few things you should consider before purchasing a rabbit, or truly any pet for your family.

Am I committed to care for this animal for the entirety of it’s lifespan? Rabbits live 7-10 years or more!

Am I prepared to have money set aside in the instance that my rabbit requires veterinary attention? Rabbits are often considered an exotic animal and typically require being brought to a non standard (specialized) practice.

Am I prepared to spay/neuter, vaccinate if necessary, and provide yearly vet checkups? All rabbits in pet settings we recommend to be altered, just as you would a dog or a cat.

Am I prepared to give my bunny adequate space, care, and personal interaction daily?

Am I prepared to offer my bunny a varied diet, hay based pelleted feeds, and unlimited access to grass hay?

Am I prepared to not get “bored” of my bunny?

Rabbits should not be treated as disposable pets, their life is not less valuable than say a cats or a dog. Please keep all of these things in mind and pick that chocolate bunny or a stuffed animal instead. If after the holidays are over you are still wanting a bunny, and have done proper consideration and research into rabbit care, then add a new companion to your family then. :)

Forever 🏠 found!

He is a very adventurous and energetic little guy, but can be a little cautious with new people. Because of this he will need a family that can respect his boundaries while he warms up to his new environment. We are confident that he would thrive in almost any home!

We know we have had quite a bit of interest, so we decided to post him publicly rather than reach out to individuals, just so everyone has a fair chance. DM if you are interested or have any questions.

Hello everyone! we are so excited for our upcoming pickups and for our kits to be with their forever families. 🙂

While we do not have any kits available currently, we are expecting Holland Lop Hideaway’s Tax Evasion (Eva) to have her litter in the next few days, while she is a first time mom we are optimistic that she will do wonderfully. We will be sure to keep you all updated.
