Had the most handsome pups in the grooming shop this week - A mini Schnauzer owned by Peyton Williams and an Aussie Doodle owned by Mike and Kassie Ratledge

We shampooed and conditioned their coats, cut the tips of their nails and gave them a minor trim with the clippers. Getting pups “trained” to the grooming routine is very important.

The pups behaved beautifully in the tub and on the table. Neither cared for the loud dryer but made it through with the help of a fleece band placed around their head to protect the ears from noise and the high velocuty air flow.

Fleas and ticks are very bad this year. In McGehee/Dumas/Lake Village the fleas seem to be worse than the ticks. Nonetheless, a preventative is a must for your 4-legged friends this summer.

If you do not have your dog on flea and tick prevention meds they most likely have fleas.

YES!!! Even your inside dog that you’ve never seen a flea on needs a preventative!

We have bathed and groomed 3-4 dogs per day over the last few weeks and the only dogs that haven’t had fleas were those that were on a preventative. Even people with super clean homes and yards have fleas on their dogs if they haven’t been medicated.

We use Simparica TRIO because it covers heart worms as well as intestinal worms, fleas, and ticks.

Do not use heart worm preventative without having dog checked for worms before using meds. If they are already infested with heartworms the medication can kill the worms and then the dead worms can float around in circulation until they cause heart attack or stroke.

Thank you Layne and Ryane for bringing Binks to Delta Dogs for his groom.

Binks is such a good dude for his grooming. He hops into the tub and onto the grooming table when prompted. And he’s super patient and tolerant of the process.

It’s the result of owners doing the puppy a favor and bringing them for grooming earlier rather than later in their first year.

Ok, so this is hard to think about and even harder to deal with when it happens but I was pleased to know we have this business available to us in South Arkansas.

I’ve not met these people but the comments speak to their commitment to grieving pet owners.
