McCook Humane Society

McCook Humane Society Saving just one pet won't change the world, but surely, the world will change for that one pet!

Our organization is committed to keeping pets safe, happy and healthy while they wait to be placed in a forever home. Since 1983 the McCook Humane Society has provided a temporary home for puppies and kittens, as well as adult dogs, cats and any temporarily homeless pet. We are dedicated to finding permanent, loving homes for abused, neglected, and abandoned animals in Southwest Nebraska and North

west Kansas, while also continuing in our mission of education in Responsible Pet Ownership. We are classified as a No Kill Shelter and strive to be as low kill as possible and give them every opportunity to find forever homes.

Renegade Removal is helping us out! Thank you to our friends at Renegade Removal and the other sponsors involved in this huge endeavor...

It's April. You know what that means?
THE APRIL SOAP DRIVE. ⚫🟡

This is our second year of doing this soap-raiser!!!! Last year we, and the sponsors, gathered & donated a little over 15 gallons of soap to KAAS.
But this year, we are doing Kearney Area Animal Shelter AND McCook Humane Society 🤘

WITH 7 SPONSORS including Renegade.
Southpaw Dog Academy & Boarding
Sekret Graphics
The Golden Spoon Scoop Shop
The Other Side
Luvical Candle Co.
The Toasted Goat
THAT MEANS THE TOTAL DONATED BY YOU, WILL BE MATCHED ×7.
These businesses did not have to do this, so it really means a lot, specifically to the animals in these two shelters. 💛🖤

Here is how to donate!!
For all of April, just leave any size bottle.of Dawn Dish Soap on your porch, and us, Renegade Removal will pick it up!!
If you are a Renegade customer, it's as simple as when we show up to remove the pet waste, we will see the soap.
But if you are NOT a Renegade customer:

Just let us know on here, by email, or through this online form. https://forms.gle/yXefLrsivGbASFKGA

[email protected]

Us here at Renegade will be being doing all the running around for soap, so just please let us know through one of these methods listed.
Other than ALL that jazz, let's get freaky.
OUR GOAL IS 100 GALLONS FOR 2025.
🪰🪩
LET'S ROLL!!!!!!!!
***Renegade Removal apologize in advance because we will be posting about this to the point of exhaustion. 🤭

Thank you to friends of the Shelter for this awesome FUNdraiser :) Thanks to our friends at The Clever Fox!!!

Folks, please come in and claim the strays that are still coming in faster than we can make any kind of room for in this situation. Our main kennel is shut down. Here is a picture of it, so you'll get a full impact of what we are trying to say. This is where the dogs are housed. As you can see, it is not available. Please be patient with us and please, for the love of everything furry, please, come claim your furkids.

We here at the McCook Humane Society, would like to take this opportunity to thank the McCook Police Department, who is our Animal Control, for working so hard (and being so patient with us as well) at trying to find the owners of these furry wanderers. We know you have more pressing issues.

We'd also like to thank the folks who are stepping up and helping in any way that you can.

Thank you.

NOTE: The "toy" (skidsteer) is not left overnight.

Goose has been picked up :)

FOUND: This unaltered male was found on the 1000 block of West 12th and brought to the McCook Humane Society on Wednesday, April 2nd. He's wearing a collar with what appears to be possibly a perimeter control device, but no tag, nor is he microchipped. He is a stray and not available for adoption. If he's your furkid, our hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday through Friday from 2pm until 5pm and Saturdays from Noon until 4pm. If not claimed by an owner within five days, he will then no longer be a stray, and we will start the process to make him available for adoption.

I don't even know how to post this, or if it will even help. To the two humans in the white GMC pick up who dropped off these dogs. The three adults who after we took them in, warmed them up, bathed them and calmed them... discovered all of the wounds and scars. The five little pups. These dogs that were left at our front door at 10:12pm LAST NIGHT (Monday night, March 24th)... we understand the need to rehome dogs when you have so many. We have asked and have alerted anyone who has tried to bring in a large group of dogs especially, of the "Kennel Project". We have ZERO ROOM. We've been yelled at, cussed at, called every name but our given name. And we are doing the best that we can. We have asked that the public please be patient and kind, give grace and we will get this project done as soon as possible. We can't even get it torn apart due to the amount of dogs that we need to move around. So it delays yet again. Folks, we've had to shut down completely multiple times due to plumbing issues. This is going to end that issue. Plus many more benefits. We cannot take in anymore dogs at this moment, however we've taken in emergencies. This does not mean to dump them at our front door at 10pm in the cold to leave them overnight. Now we have no actual and factual information on them. Are the puppies weaned? They don't appear to be old enough to be. The mom was so distraught having to hear them whine all night and not be able to get to them. She tried. We see the evidence and it was seen on the videos. The same video where the two humans were seen dropping them off in the white GMC pickup, and yes we have it all on video (your headlights helped even more). Have the adults had any vet care? Vaccinations? Anything? How old are they, do you know their birthday or do we give estimated DOBs? Yes, we are all in tears. We are trying so hard. Please help us out folks. Do not leave your animals at our doors, or dump them in the country. Just be patient, please. We will be posting Courtesy Posts for anyone trying to rehome pets who are already spayed, neutered and UTD on vaccinations.

Again, to the two humans, please restore our faith in humanity. Give us a call at 308-345-2372, facebook us, give us some information, talk to us. I've been told I should share the screenshots, the video... we are going to have the faith that you will do the right thing. We don't want to embarrass you or cause you problems in your workplace. We just need your help and patience.

To all that are being patient, you cannot know how much we appreciate you. We apologize to you for incidents such as this which are causing even more delays.

Edit to add: Checked the books and talked to all counter personnel. We have not even had anyone call with any attempt to bring in a group like this. Last group that called and attempted to make an appointment have already showed up as "strays". Sigh.
