We get asked this question all the time… “Should we get a male or a female German Shepherd? Which would be best for our family?” 🐾

It’s such a common decision families go back and forth on, so let’s break it down in a simple way!

💙 Males – Typically bigger in size and frame, with that strong “classic shepherd” look. They often carry themselves with confidence, can be a little more territorial, and love having a job to do. They’re usually goofy, fun-loving, and thrive when they’re part of the action with their people.

💖 Females – Usually a bit smaller and more refined in build. Many people find them easier to train and a little more in tune with their families. They tend to mature mentally a bit quicker than the boys and can be just as protective while balancing a nurturing, gentle side.

Both are incredible family dogs, and both will bond deeply with their people. It really comes down to the vibe your family is looking for, whether you want the big, goofy boy or the sharp, sweet girl. At the end of the day, you can’t go wrong. They all bring so much love and personality into the home. 💛

We are beyond excited to officially introduce our newest German import, Qully vom Fichtenschlag 💫 A huge thank you to Vom Vashaus Kennel for caring for Qully since January and showcasing her throughout spring and summer exhibitions in Europe!

Qully is a pink papered import, the daughter of VA / V12 BSZS ‘23 Rio du Val D’Anzin, IGP3 and VA14 BSZS ‘21 Dibala vom Fichtenschlag, IGP2. Qully has earned her IGP1 and BH titles and has already been recognized in the show ring with V1, 2xVV1, SG1, 5xSG2, 4xSG3, and V3 ratings. 🏆

Her accomplishments under respected judges across Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Germany, and Italy speak volumes about her quality! 3 Things You Might Not Know About German Shepherds 🐾

1️⃣ Not all German Shepherds are the same
There are different lines within the breed. Working lines are bred for high energy and sport, while West German Show Lines, like Lenna, are known for their balanced temperaments, deep pigment, and beautiful structure. ✨

2️⃣ Long coats shed differently
Stock coats shed consistently throughout the year, but long coats tend to shed less daily and instead go through heavier seasonal blowouts in the spring and fall 🍂🌸

3️⃣ They need jobs but not always big ones
German Shepherds are highly intelligent and thrive with mental stimulation. A short training session, puzzle toy, or learning a new command can be just as satisfying as long exercise 🧩

We’re overjoyed to share that our girl Lenna blessed us with 8 beautiful, healthy puppies, 6 boys and 2 girls 🐾 Lenna had a completely textbook delivery and amazed us with how naturally she stepped into motherhood. She hasn’t needed a bit of help from me and it has been such a blessing.

Red Collar from our Solaar x Insomnia litter ❤️ He’s the very last one still with us, and I can hardly believe it. Watching the rest of his brothers and sisters head off to their new adventures has been so bittersweet, and now this sweet boy is soaking up all the extra love and attention here until it’s his turn.

Whoever brings him home is going to be so lucky, he has that same wonderful temperament and strong pedigree this pairing is known for. 🐾
