Attention Maynard Dog Park Community:

The dog park cannot continue without your help.

This park is not town-run — it only exists because of volunteers. Right now, only a handful of people are doing all the work, and that is no longer sustainable. If this continues, the park will face closure.

If you use the park, you are expected to contribute. Enjoying a free, clean, and safe dog park means stepping up when it’s time to maintain it. That time is now.

Park Cleanup Day This Saturday!
📅 Saturday, September 27
⏰ 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
📍 Maynard Dog Park, Waltham Street

Bring rakes, shovels, clippers, gloves — and be ready to work. Even a couple hours of your time matters.

👉 This is simple: No volunteers = No dog park.

Let’s share the responsibility so we can keep this space open for everyone and every dog.

Hey Maynard Dog Park Community,

Your help is needed. Without it, the park faces closure
The Maynard Dog Park is a free, community-run space — but that also means it only exists because of volunteers. Every clean-up, every repair, every bag of trash picked up happens because a small group of people step forward. Right now, it’s been the same few volunteers carrying the load, and that isn’t sustainable.

If you and your dog enjoy the park, then step up to help. This is not optional — it’s part of being a responsible member of our dog park community.

We need volunteers for Park Cleanup Day next Saturday:

📅 Saturday, September 27
⏰ 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
📍 Maynard Dog Park, Waltham Street

Bring along rakes, trimmers, shovels, clippers, gloves — and a willingness to pitch in. Even a couple of hours makes a difference.

👉 This is simple: if you want a clean, safe, and usable dog park, then you must contribute. Otherwise, this free resource cannot continue as it has.

Please sign up here: https://b.link/maydog

Let’s share the work so we can all share the benefits. We look forward to seeing you on September 27.

Sincerely,
The MayDOG Board

🐾 Volunteer Cleanup Day at Maynard Dog Park! 🐾

The Maynard Dog Park is a free community park, but it doesn’t stay that way without help. The park is 100% volunteer-run, and we need your support to keep it safe, clean, and fun for our dogs.

📅 When: Saturday, Sept. 27
⏰ Time: 9:00 a.m. – Noon
📍 Where: Maynard Dog Park, Waltham Street

We’re asking every dog park user to step up and pitch in. Please bring tools such as rakes, shovels, clippers, and work gloves. Even an hour of your time will make a huge difference!

👉 If you bring your pup here to play, this is your chance to give back. The park doesn’t clean itself — it’s maintained by people like you.

Let’s come together as a community and show our dogs how much we care. 🐶💚

A reminder that MayDOG will hold its 2025 Annual Board Meeting tomorrow night, Thursday, August 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Trustees Room at the Maynard Public Library.

All members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend. (You can also attend by Zoom, please email us to indicate your interest and we’ll get you the link)

The future of the Maynard Dog Park depends on people like you.

We currently have openings on the MayDOG Board and are actively seeking candidates to join us. If serving on the board feels like too big of a step, we also need volunteers for essential tasks that help keep the park open and welcoming to all.

Volunteer help is needed for:
- Trash duty
- Organizing park cleanups
- Fundraising efforts
- Newsletter contributions

Special skills such as accounting, website maintenance, social media/PR, or legal expertise are always appreciated—but the most important things you can bring are a love of dogs, a desire to be part of a team, and just a few hours each month.

The Maynard Dog Park is a treasured community resource—providing a safe, off-leash space for dogs to exercise, socialize, and have fun. But we are 100% volunteer-run, and without more helping hands, we cannot keep the park running.

One person CAN make a difference—let that person be YOU!

If you’re interested in joining the Board or volunteering, please email us at [email protected]

We hope to see you tomorrow night, August 28 at the Maynard Public Library for the Annual Board Meeting.

❄️ SNOW MUCH FUN… in July! ❄️🐾

We are beyond thrilled to share that thanks to Tom Wrona of Valley Sports Arenas in Concord, the Maynard Dog Park pups got the ultimate summer surprise—a big donation of SNOW! 🐶💙

Yes, today’s temps are soaring into the high 90s, with “feels like” temps near 100°, but our dogs have a way to chill out thanks to Tom. He’s a dog owner himself and thought the MayDOG crew could use a little break from the heat. We couldn’t agree more!

🎉 THANK YOU, TOM! 🎉 Your generosity and thoughtfulness mean so much to our dog park community.

If you're heading to the park today (and a little later in the day would definitely be better than now with these dangerous temps), don’t forget to bring plenty of water for both you and your pup—hydration is essential in this heat! 💧🐕

Stay cool out there, and come enjoy a little slice of winter, courtesy of a kind neighbor. ❄️🐾

🧹🐶 TRASH PICKUP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED — MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN JUST 10 MINUTES! 🐾

We’re looking for more awesome volunteers to help with weekly trash pickup at the park—and we’d love to have you on the team!

Helping out is quick, easy, and super appreciated. Plus, it’s a great way to give back to the park you and your pup enjoy.

🦴 Here’s what the job includes:
✔️ Empty the 4 trash bins
✔️ Line them with fresh bags (we supply them!)
✔️ Place full bags in the plastic bin & attach a trash sticker (provided)
✔️ Roll the bin to the curb on Saturday or Sunday for Monday pickup
✔️ Restock the dog waste bag dispensers

We’ve got you covered with all the supplies—gloves, bags, and stickers. All you need to bring is your awesome self!

📅 Even one shift helps a ton.

We’ve observed an increasing number of large holes throughout the park. For the safety of all visitors—both canine and human—please do your part to prevent dogs from digging.

If your dog begins to dig, kindly redirect the behavior. Should a hole be created before you’re able to intervene, we respectfully ask that you fill it in before leaving the park.

Unfilled holes pose tripping hazards and can result in injuries. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable space for everyone. It truly takes a village.

🎆 Fireworks & Furry Friends: Safety Tips for the 4th of July 🎇

As Independence Day approaches, let’s not forget that while fireworks might be fun for us, they can be terrifying for our dogs. The 4th of July is the #1 day of the year for missing dogs — many pups panic and run.

Here are some ways to keep your dog safe and calm:

🐾 Keep them indoors during fireworks, even if they’re usually fine outside.
🐾 Close windows & curtains to muffle sound and reduce flashes.
🐾 Update ID tags and microchip info — just in case.
🐾 Create a safe space with their favorite bed, toy, or crate.
🐾 Exercise earlier in the day so they’re more relaxed come evening.
🐾 Consider calming treats or anxiety wraps if your pup is especially fearful.

Let’s keep tails wagging and dogs safe this holiday! 🐶❤️🇺🇸
