Margaret’s Saving Grace Bully Rescue

Margaret’s Saving Grace Bully Rescue Moving dogs to better places through caring arms & hearts. One rescue at a time. We do not have a facility in which we are able to house dogs.

We are a foster based rescue. We are in shenandoah county VA. and in Front Royal Va. We do have a retail store that supports the rescue. Piticorn, a magical rescue store.

Long before MSGBR became what so many people know today, it was much, much smaller.

Back then, Brad and I knew every dog, every foster, every adopter, every story. We answered every message, signed every email, and celebrated every happy ending personally.

Over the years, rescue grew.

It grew into something bigger than we ever imagined. It grew into a village of fosters, volunteers, adopters, donors, transporters, and advocates. It also grew into something that consumes nearly every ounce of the life we once knew.

And yet, standing on this side of it all, looking back at the thousands of dogs, families, heartbreaks, and victories, I don’t know how anyone could walk away.

I couldn’t.

So here we are.

These days, we may not be the only face you see. We may not be the only signature on an email or Facebook message. We don’t know every adopter as intimately as we once did, simply because rescue has grown beyond what Brad and I could have imagined in 2018.

But this next chapter finds my precious husband and me heading out to sit with Sarge and his family.

And it serves as a reminder that while rescue may have grown, the heart behind it never changed.

We are still here.

And we still care just as much as we did when this journey began.

Some people say rescue is a business. In some ways, they’re right. It requires budgets, paperwork, fundraising, policies, and hard decisions.

But for us, rescue became something more.

It became family.

Sarge came to rescue in February of 2020 from Berkeley County Animal Control. He would leave rescue and spend the next six years exactly where every rescue dog deserves to be: in a home filled with love.

Tonight, our hearts are with Kammi and her family as they navigated saying goodbye over today, to a dog who was deeply loved and whose life mattered.

Thank you for choosing him.
Thank you for loving him.
Thank you for giving him the life we all hoped he would find.

Years may pass between updates. Life gets busy. The rescue gets bigger.

But moments like this remind us that once you become part of the MSGBR family, you will always be part of the MSGBR family.

We are holding space for all of you tonight. ❤️

💔 Sarge.

In February of 2020, a dog named Sarge walked out of Berkeley County Animal Control and into rescue. Like so many before him, he arrived carrying a past we would never fully know. What we did know was that he deserved a chance.

That chance came in the form of a family.

A family who chose him.
A family who loved him.
A family who gave him the one thing every rescue dog is searching for… home.

For the next six years, Sarge wasn’t a rescue dog. He wasn’t a shelter dog. He wasn’t a case number.

He was their dog.

He was the familiar face waiting at the door, the companion through life’s ordinary days, the keeper of routines, the shadow underfoot, and the heartbeat curled up beside them at night.

Today, our hearts are heavy as we learn that cancer has returned and tomorrow his family will help him make the final journey we all wish our dogs never had to take.

There is never enough time.

Not six years.
Not sixteen years.
Not a hundred years.

But what a gift those years were.

Sarge’s story is exactly why rescue exists. Not because we save dogs. Because families save dogs. We simply help them find each other.

To Kammi and family, thank you for giving this beautiful boy the life every dog deserves. Thank you for loving him through every season, every gray whisker, every diagnosis, every hard decision. The greatest act of love is often the most painful one.

Run free, sweet Sarge. 🌈

The cancer may have come back, but it never took away the years of love, the memories, the adventures, or the family who adored you.

You arrived in rescue needing a chance.

You leave this world having been deeply, completely, and unquestionably loved.

Until we meet again, handsome boy. ❤️🐾🌈

🐾💚 Our Spicy Meatball, Sophie, Takes on Boston! 💚🐾

Our little spicy meatball, Sophie (formerly Naomi from Nyla’s Crew), officially completed her first road trip to Boston! 🚗🐶

She traveled in style to meet her Grandmeow and Grandpaw and even squeezed in visits to a few historic places. True to her Boston spirit, she proudly sported her Celtics jersey and cheered with so much excitement that she would wiggle her whole body back and forth—I honestly thought her hips were going to touch her head! 😂☘️

One of the highlights of her adventure was visiting Saugus Iron Works, where she was officially inducted as a National Park B.A.R.K. Ranger! 🦴🏞️ We couldn’t have been prouder of our girl.

Everywhere Sophie went, people stopped to tell her how beautiful she is. Their smiles, pets, and kind words made her day—and ours too. ❤️ We may be a little biased, but we couldn’t agree more.

Here’s to many more adventures, tail wags, historical landmarks, and memories with our sweet girl. The world is a little brighter with Sophie in it. 🐾✨☘️
