Hey Everyone!

We have received two 11-week-old brothers we are calling Cider House and MF Minx.

They are adorable, smart, and RAMBUNCTIOUS!

We usually keep the incoming kittens in a large cage for a week – even two sometimes – so we can gradually get them used to being touched and spoken to without them hiding in a corner or disappearing under furniture.

These two... Not happening.

They were flying around that cage like two Tasmanian Devils, bouncing off the walls and hanging off the roof to the point we thought it was going to fly apart!

So because the cages are expensive 😉 and these two obviously needed room to roam, we thought it best to open the cage and let them take over the room!

Now, usually, we can get a cute picture of the foster kittens to put at the top of the page.

Again... Not happening.

The only time these boys ever come to a standstill is when they eat, and therefore, the picture is of them at dinnertime!

Updates to come!

Hey Everyone!

OH!... These two sweet kittens!

They are ready to go up for adoption, and our hearts are broken.

Now, don't get us wrong, we love all our ferals and fosters, but every once in a while, you come across a kitten or cat that is just obviously special, and you fall for them hard.

Both Candy and Ronnie were special like that.

They were intelligent, sweet, playful, rambunctious, and had an awareness about them like they knew exactly what you were feeling.

It was quite extraordinary.

As that was the case, they socialized quickly and are ready to make someone's home and family a much happier and wonderful place.

Whoever winds up adopting these two – I hope they are adopted as a pair – will have hit the feline jackpot.

If you are interested in adopting these two, please contact The North Fork Animal Welfare League at 631-765-1811 and tell them AFAR sent you! 😻

Hey Everyone!

New baby tuxedo kittens, ya'll!

Yes, Candy and Ronnie have stopped by for some socialization, and we can't figure out why!

Our friends over at the North Shore Animal League said they weren't able to hold them, and they'd hiss when they tried, but these two boogers are nothing but big mushes, as far as we can tell.

The first thing Candy – the girl kitten – did when we opened up the cage was boop her nose on my nose.

I was immediately smitten.

Ronnie is a little wary but loves him some belly rubs and loves to play with the laser dot.

Also... They are REALLY intelligent!

They know when and where to eat, when it's time to go back in the cage, totally litter trained, no claws ever, and you know that look a cat will give you when they stare right into your soul... Yeah, they got that too!

They are definitely a bonded pair and need to be adopted together, no doubt.

They are so sweet, I swear if we had the room, we would adopt them in a heartbeat!

We are presently treating them with Clavamox for a minor upper respiratory infection that consists of some sneezes and eye goo but nothing serious.

And if you were wondering, the answer is yes... they are named after two characters in Elton John's song "Bennie and the Jets"!

Updates to come!

Hey Everyone!

Well, it took a couple of days, but Honey And Maple have decided to share their personalities with us, and it was not a surprise.

While both are stinkin' cute, they do have very distinctive and differing attitudes towards how they spend their time.

While Maple is an all-out, full-throttle crazy boy, Honey is a reserved and delicate little flower who needs her beauty sleep and does not engage in such tomfoolery!

As is the case, we decided to film the two after we put them back in their cage for the night, and the attached video is the show we got.

The two little ones have gone and are at their forever home now, and we truly miss their antics.

The word from the family is that they and their two little daughters are IN LOVE with Honey And Maple... How could they not be? 😻

Hey all!

These two sweet babies, Honey and Maple, are just stopping by for a few days before they go to their forever home.

The shelter wanted to see if we could take a little bit of the edge off these two before they settle into their new digs and get them used to being handled and cuddled.

Well... they are – to put it bluntly – a pair of hard asses!

The black cat, a boy, is coming around nicely, but the girl... Oh my!

She is a piece of work, hissing and spitting like a little fuzzy viper! LOL!

She doesn't really know what she's doing, and she never once bit or scratched, but SUCH A DIVA!

UPDATES TO COME!

Hey Everyone!

When sweet Hazel came to us, she was a shy, nervous little girl who could barely make eye contact with you when you spoke to her.

Now, she has blossomed into a loving, playful kitten with a curiosity and love big enough for the world.

When she arrived, she would curl up into a little ball when you pet her.

Now she flips around, purrs, and makes bread for days!

She has learned to play and loves her laser dot and her kicker toy.

She has no problem with any other cats, male or female, and, in fact, has gotten along with everyone else at the shelter better than almost any cat that has come through here.

All that remains is to show you what an adorable little girl she is, so we put together the attached video of Hazel so you can see that she would be a perfect fit for your home!

If you are interested in adopting Hazel, please contact The North Fork Animal Welfare League at 1 631-765-1811 😻

Hey everyone!

We have a new little girl named Hazel (feral #674) here in the shelter for some socialization, and she is ADORABLE!

Please note the AWESOME stripe down the center of her nose!

While she is very tentative and naturally a little fearful of the new situation and surroundings, it is easy to see what a sweetheart she is.

When she arrived, Hazel reminded us of a little fuzzy armadillo because when you pet her, she curls up and peeks up at you with one eye to make sure you’re not up to no good.

On the second night, though, she became very trusting and started making bread and even purring.

And she is soooooo soft!!!!!!

If this little one continues to progress so quickly, it shouldn’t be too long before she’s a total mush!

Updates to come.

Hey everyone!

Fern has officially graduated finishing school and is ready to be adopted!

He has become a sweet love muffin who loves brushing and petting and has developed a deep and wonderful purr.

He gets along with all the other cats at the shelter and should have no problem acclimating if you already have cats of your own.

He is truly a sweet soul and never once acted aggressively in the entire time he was getting to know and trust us.

That is amazing and a rarity.

He just has the best temperament and demeanor anyone could ask for.

All that remains is to show you what a wonderful little man he is, so we have put together a video of Fern being brushed and petted so you can see that he would be the perfect cat for you!

Petting and purring!

Hey all!

Here's a quick update on Mr. Fern.

He is settling in very nicely and has acclimated with the rest of the free-roaming cat pack.

He has also come out of his shell and is vocalizing more and is leaning to play!

When he got here, he didn't even go for the red dot!

But now, all things not nailed down are toys for the little man.

Check him out doing his thing... I love his smile at the end!

Hey Everyone!

We have a handsome new youngster in for some socialization as he looks for his forever home.

He is VERY timid and all but shuts down when you approach him.

He didn't hiss or scratch but instead froze up and made a long sad meow when we tried to pet him for the first time.

It was heartbreaking.

But Fern has been here for a week now and has made amazing strides.

He is now actually actively testing boundaries and even seeking out pettings... On his terms of course.

It's going to take a little while, and we will have to earn his trust, but we have a feeling that once he turns the corner, he is going to be a massive cuddler.

That's usually how it goes with the quiet ones... They test you to see if they can trust you, and once they know you are okay and part of their family, they just turn into big old mushes!

Updates soon, and a huge shout out to Jasmine Papik and her team for rescuing Fern!
