Congratulations to Axel, our September Pup of the Month! šŸ¾

Axel is an almost 12-year-old Boston Terrier living in Concord, NC. Weā€™ve known this handsome guy for years, and he was also one of Run Freeā€™s very first clientsā€”taking his first run with us on October 23, 2025!

Axel may be a senior pup, but he still shows up ready to move those little legs and make the most of every run. Heā€™s a wonderful reminder that exercise doesnā€™t have to look the same for every dog. Itā€™s all about giving each pup a safe, comfortable way to move at their own pace.

We couldnā€™t think of a more deserving dog to kick off this new tradition.

Congratulations, Axel! Weā€™re so happy youā€™re part of the Run Free family. šŸ’™šŸ¾

For a shelter pup, time in the Run Free van is about so much more than exercise. šŸ§”

Today we spent about four hours loving on dogs, handing out plenty of treats, and giving them the chance to experience something brand new as they tried the slatmill.

But maybe the best part? For a little while, they got to step away from shelter life and just be dogs. Jason may prefer to stay behind the camera, but Milkdud had other plans. šŸ˜‚

New smells. New people. New experiences. Lots of love. And a whole lot of ā€œgood boy!ā€ and ā€œgood girl!ā€ We love cheering them on!

We may be there to give them a chance to run, but these days always end up meaning so much more to us than miles per hour or distance ran. Thank you for inviting us out today, we canā€™t wait to come back!

We got to meet sweet Lainey today when she tried the slatmill! Sheā€™s down for almost any adventure and is available for adoption from our friends at You and Me Furever! Thanks to Woof Gang Bakery Plaza Midwood for inviting us out to the summer bash!

What happens inside the Run Free van is more than kinda chic. Whether we are helping shelter dogs show up better for potential adopters or giving our clients a structured way to burn energy, lose weight or build confidence, getting to make a difference in a dogā€™s life is something weā€™ll never take for granted.

Weā€™re still thinking about the weekend! We had the honor to help our friends at Paws on the Pasture celebrate their one year anniversary and introduced lots of dogs to the slatmill too. Of course we didnā€™t snap any photos of humans but hereā€™s a few from the day including sweet Annie Mae who preferred cuddles to exercise (we get it!) and a post-workout photo of Birdie!

Thank you again to Paws on the Pasture for inviting us to bring the van out and meet your amazing clients and their families.
