🔥 HOT WEATHER WARNING: Protect Your Pup This Summer! 🐶☀️

The sun’s out—but that means serious danger for our furry friends.
As temps rise, so do the risks of burned paws, deadly heatstroke, and overheated cars. Let’s break it down ⬇️

🚶‍♂️ TOO HOT TO WALK?
If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
• At just 86°F outside, asphalt can hit 135°F — hot enough to fry an egg 🍳
• Paw burns can happen in less than 1 minute!
Try the 7-second rule: press your hand to the pavement — if it’s uncomfortable, skip the walk or find grass. 🌿

🚨 NEVER leave your dog in the car.
Even on a “mild” day, a parked car can become a death trap:
• 80°F outside = up to 99°F inside in 10 mins
• 90°F = 109°F inside in 10 mins
• Cracked windows? Barely help.
Heatstroke can set in fast and be fatal.

😰 Signs of Heatstroke in Dogs:
• Heavy panting & drooling
• Bright red tongue or gums
• Vomiting, diarrhea
• Wobbly or unresponsive
• Lethargy or collapse
Heatstroke is an emergency. Get your dog to a vet ASAP if you see these signs.

✅ Tips to Keep Them Cool:
• Walk early or late 🌅
• Stick to grass or shaded trails
• Use paw booties for protection
• Carry water & take breaks
• Leave pets at home, not in the car 🚗💔

Your dog trusts you to keep them safe. Let’s not let the heat catch them off guard. 🐾❤️

Big News! We're thrilled to welcome Dr. Karen Forbes to the Berg Animal Hospital team! Dr. Forbes’ favorite part of veterinary medicine is not only helping the animals but also building relationships with her clients and their pets for a lifetime. During her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her family and friends. She also likes spending time outdoors, walking, and hiking with her dog, Shylah. Her hobbies include yoga, indoor cycling, and cooking. Dr. Karen Forbes is excited to meet all of our amazing pet parents and furry friends. Join us in giving a warm welcome to our newest team member!
