Got KG half mount black bear on the form and drying. It had a major part of one paw blown off and I was able to pin it back together and it’s hardly noticeable.

Just saw a doe chase a coyote into the field and kick the snot out of it. For 30 seconds it rolled that coyote around about 30 yards in a circle and kicked at it a dozen times or more. At the end it was over the top of the coyote just stomping it. The coyote laid on the ground and the deer stood 20 yards away and snorted at it. The coyote laid there for 5 minutes after the deer ran away. Then it hobbled back into the woods 800 yards away. Was cool to see. I’m sure it either caught the fawn or tried to.

I have been to the Brule hatchery almost every year when my kids were young. No one is ever there. It’s a pretty place. My kids used to feed the fish there and enjoyed it. Like many DNR facilities, there is no maintenance. The DNR better get their act together. They put less and less focus on the hunter, fisherman, and trapper, (instead of defending the heritage that is Northern Wisconsin) and more on the plant, bird watchers and silent sport enthusiasts which I have nothing against but they aren’t the ones paying the bills. I take the DNRs monthly magazine flip thru it and pitch it cause there’s very little info on fishing and hunting. Compare overall license sales and see who are paying your bills, then keep them happy! I went to the spring hearing and many of the questions were about trying to raise money. Well stop trying to please everyone, make the people happy, who pay your salaries!

The last couple days I worked on a 464 pound black bear half mount, assembled 7 half mount forms and a life size bear mount form. Today, I whitened skulls all day. No finger prints for me, they burnt off. I worked on 22 white tails, 1 elk and 10 bear skulls. I still have a pile of bear skulls to do. I still have a ton of picking and dremel work to do so they aren’t finished.

I hate to sound rude but I’m not taking any work in from new clients. I have enough! I’m cranking out work and I will be limiting the amount of work I take in this fall. I’ve never been one to turn down work but it’s time.
