In the Dutch province of North Brabant, engineers and artists teamed up to create the Van Gogh–Roosegaarde Path — a mesmerizing bike route that combines sustainability with art. Designed by Daan Roosegaarde, the 600-meter path is embedded with thousands of photoluminescent stones that absorb sunlight during the day and release it as a gentle blue-green glow at night, recreating the swirling beauty of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.”

Located between Eindhoven and Nuenen, where Van Gogh once lived and painted, this project merges renewable energy technology, smart design, and cultural heritage. The glowing stones reduce the need for streetlights, cutting energy use while enhancing nighttime visibility for cyclists.

Beyond its practical benefits, the path symbolizes how art and engineering can coexist — transforming infrastructure into an experience that celebrates both innovation and emotion. It’s not just a road — it’s a living tribute to creativity, sustainability, and the Dutch vision of a cleaner, brighter future.
