MAARC operates from 426 Home Avenue and houses both dogs and cats. Hours for dogs are Mon-Fri 2:30pm-5:30pm and Saturday 10am-1pm. Please call 865-273-3751

Cats are Saturday 10am-1pm or by appointment. Please call or text 865-599-7304 and feel free to leave a voicemail. Our goal is to sustain a 97% and higher save rate for the animals who enter the Maryville City Shelter with robust adoption and community programs.

Meet Dash, the 3-year-old Pit Bull/Bulldog mix whose joy is as unstoppable as a sled on fresh powder. Recently returned to us after his owner fell ill, Dash hasn’t let heartbreak dim his sparkle — this boy still greets every day like the first big snow of the season: with full-body wiggles and boundless excitement.

Dash loves everything: sprinting through the yards like a snowstorm on paws, wrestling with doggy friends, tossing toys like flying snowballs, cruising in the car, and chomping on treats like holiday cookies. Many people don’t realize that declawing isn’t just removing a cat’s nails — it’s a painful amputation of the last bone in each toe, comparable to cutting off a human fingertip at the last joint. This can lead to long-term pain, arthritis, litterbox issues, and behavioral problems.

Cats scratch to stretch, exercise, and mark their territory — it’s natural and healthy! Instead of declawing, here are safe alternatives:
✔️ Provide scratching posts & pads (cardboard, carpet, sisal)
✔️ Keep nails trimmed or try nail caps
✔️ Redirect scratching with treats and praise

Silas the Snowday Sidekick!

Meet Silas, the 1-year-old Heeler/Hound mix who lives every day like it’s the first snowfall of the season, full of zoomies, excitement, and pure winter magic. The MAARC Mission

Maryville / Alcoa Animal Rescue Center, (MAARC) is an all volunteer animal rescue group. Our mission is to rescue animals in danger of being euthanized in our local shelter, with a purpose of creating a safe, no kill community and eventually advancing animal welfare for animals in surrounding county shelters or beyond.

MAARC is extremely fortunate to partner with the Maryville City Shelter. The shelter staff and animal control officers work cohesively with our group to get animals adopted directly from the shelter.

Our page and any other social media avenue, is a critical piece of finding our animals permanent homes or foster homes. Look for us in the near future on petfinder.com and other adoption websites.
