April is Heartworm Prevention Month ❤️🐾
Heartworm disease is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito—and both dogs and cats are at risk. Here in Ohio, our unpredictable weather means mosquitoes can be active year-round. In fact, cases in our area remain consistently high.
Even indoor pets aren’t completely safe. Mosquitoes can easily enter through open windows or doors, putting your pets at risk without you even realizing it.
While treatment for dogs is available, it can be expensive and difficult. Unfortunately, there is currently no approved treatment for heartworm disease in cats.
That’s why prevention is key. Heartworm disease is far easier—and far less costly—to prevent than to treat. Talk to your veterinarian about keeping your pets protected all year long.
Protect their hearts—because they rely on you. 🐶🐱
Drum roll, please! The AHS has released their new heartworm incidence map and survey. The bad news? Heartworm disease is being diagnosed nationwide. The good news? Heartworm disease is PREVENTABLE. https://bit.ly/4c8QNj2
