Transformation Tuesday:

This nice quality, show pen experienced gelding arrived in Indiana from Texas. His bill of sale documentation stated that he had been "professionally shod" before being shipped. Upon inspection we estimated he was 12 weeks out since seeing a farrier...and he had two completely mismatched shoes on his front feet.

Keeping your horse on a routine farrier schedule of 5- 6 weeks is an essential part of maintaining your horses comfort soundness and ability to perform.

Sometimes a farrier is challenged with very little to work with in order to have the horse feeling and moving it's best. This can be caused by lack of routine professional care, improper trimming by a previous farrier, to name a few.

Relying on skill, knowledge and hands on experience is how a qualified professional farrier overcomes these challenges.

The solution in this case is an Aluminum wedge shoe, supportively raising the horses's angles and alleviating some of the stress on the heel and tendon. This is just another example of why routine farrier care by a qualified professional is essential to keeping your horse happy and sound!

Know what your looking for, so you can be sure you are getting the very best in farrier care!
