Hannah Banana is our manner-having queen of the shelter! This sweet girl is approximately 5 years old and is such a star once you give her a chance outside of her kennel. 🌟

Hannah does well with other dogs and didn’t seem to mind the cats during her introduction. We believe that with a slow, proper introduction, she could potentially do well with feline friends, too!

And guess what? Hannah already knows SIT and STAY! 🐾 She’s smart, sweet, and ready to show someone just how wonderful she can be.

Please come meet Hannah outside of her run and give this beautiful girl a chance to shine. ❤️

Volunteer Program Update - EFFECTIVE 9/2/2026

We are incredibly grateful for the continued interest from members of our community who want to volunteer their time and talents to support the SPCA of Martinsville & Henry County!

As our Volunteer Coordinator prepares to be out on maternity leave, we will be temporarily pausing the acceptance and processing of new volunteer applications for our SPCA Adoption Center. During this time, we will not be onboarding or scheduling orientations for new shelter volunteers.

Current SPCA volunteers: This pause does not affect you! We are so thankful for your continued dedication and support, and we look forward to seeing you as usual.

BUT—we still have a wonderful volunteer opportunity available!

Our charity store, Fido's Finds and Kittie's Kollectibles, is 100% volunteer-run and is still actively accepting new volunteers! The charity store plays an important role in supporting the animals and mission of our SPCA, and additional helping hands are always appreciated.

**Fido's Finds and Kittie's Kollectibles can only accept volunteers 18 years of age and older.**

MISSING DOG! RICH ACRES AREA!

Tyson is missing from Joseph Martin Highway. He is a small grey and white Terrier/Poodle mix. He was wearing a collar. If you have seen him give the SPCA a call at 276-638-7297. If you are able to get him you can bring him to the SPCA and we will reach out to the owner. We will post a picture as soon as we get one from the owner.

Sonic is a young Shepherd mix who may be a little shy when meeting new people or exploring new places. But give her some time to settle in, and you’ll discover a loyal, devoted girl who will be completely dedicated to her person.

She enjoys playing with most other dogs, but there’s one thing that truly makes Sonic’s heart sing: WATER! Give this girl a kiddie pool and she is in heaven. If there’s an opportunity to go swimming, Sonic is absolutely taking it.

She’s looking for someone patient enough to let her come out of her shell and fun enough to keep a kiddie pool full. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who is equal parts sweet and silly, Sonic might be your girl.

UPDATE! THIS SENIOR TRIO HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!!

We are putting a little twist on SENIOR SUNDAY.. This Trio found themselves at the shelter when their owner could no longer care for them. They are a little older but still have a lot of love to give. They are bonded and will need to be adopted together. If you are interested in meeting Trixie, Slinky, and Jessie we are open Tuesday - Friday 12 to 6 and Saturdays 12 to 4.
