Adoption Update: Canelo found his forever home back in February, and it’s been pure love (and zoomies) ever since! 💛

💬: "As soon as he came to our house, he opened up so much. He and our German Shepherd bonded right away and are inseparable. My family and I have spent a lot of time training him, getting him comfortable walking on a leash, and going on regular walks/hikes. Due to his unknown past, he does have some triggers that scare him, such as loud noises, seeing brooms or mops when we’re cleaning etc, but he’s still improved so much. He plays all day with our other dogs, as well as with us and is very spoiled lol. He has many “zoomies” moments and enjoys playing in the mud when it rains. His confidence has grown at an incredible rate. I have attached some recent pictures of him. He was a perfect fit and we’re so happy that he’s part of our family."

Big thanks to his amazing family for the love, patience, and playtime they’ve poured into him. Just look at him now! 😍

🌟 Foster Spotlight: 2-year-old Vegas!

Thanks to his foster, we’ve learned a lot about what makes him special. Keep reading below:

"Vegas took a few days to learn the house rules and not go potty in the house, but he is very settled now," the foster shared. He’s potty trained, sleeps peacefully in the car, and is calm around strangers. When it comes to other dogs, he’s a gentleman — "he meets dogs on our 3x daily walks and hasn't had any issues," and he even did great during a playdate with two other pups. He hasn't been exposed to cats, but the foster noted he gets excited when seeing them on walks.

Vegas is also great with kids. "Very calm and holds still," the foster noted, mentioning he’s been around both their granddaughter and neighborhood kids with no issues. While he’s still working on crate training and separation anxiety, he’s making progress: "He’s started to go in on his own to nap, so it's only a matter of time."

Despite being deaf, Vegas is eager to learn and incredibly smart. He already knows hand signals for sit, stay, come, food, and walks. His affectionate nature is next-level — “Super sweet… sometimes it’s too much! He wants to get on top of you, not just next to you.”

With a goofy streak and a heart of gold, Vegas brings joy to everyone around him. “He has calmed down a lot since arriving. He’s not food aggressive, doesn’t beg, and just wants to please,” they shared. He’s described as “sweet, smart, goofy, and needy” — a perfect mix for someone looking for a loyal, loving companion.

The foster believes Vegas would thrive in a home with a yard to explore, a friendly dog buddy to play with, and a person or family who’s around often and ready to give him all the love he deserves. ❤️
