Store-bought eggs vs. farm-fresh eggs… what’s the real difference? 🥚

If you’ve ever cracked open a farm-fresh egg next to a store-bought egg, you know they can look completely different. Farm-fresh eggs often have brighter yolks, firmer whites and a richer flavor because they’re usually much fresher and come from hens with a more varied diet.

Store-bought eggs are still safe, convenient and a great source of protein, but they often go through more processing, washing, storage and transportation before they make it to your fridge. That can affect the texture and freshness you notice when cooking or baking.

Farm-fresh eggs may come from backyard flocks or local farms where hens can forage, eat bugs, peck at plants and enjoy a little more sunshine. That hen lifestyle can play a big role in yolk color, flavor and overall egg quality.

At the end of the day, both have their place. Store-bought eggs are easy to find and budget-friendly, while farm-fresh eggs are hard to beat when it comes to freshness and flavor.

Which do you prefer: store-bought or farm-fresh? 👇

Your garden might be your chickens’ favorite snack bar. 🐔🥒

Chickens can enjoy plenty of fresh vegetables as healthy treats. Many veggies add extra vitamins, minerals and variety to their day.

Just remember: vegetables should be treats, not the main meal! A complete chicken feed should still make up most of your flock’s diet.

Also, not every garden veggie is safe. Avoid green potatoes, potato sprouts, tomato leaves, pepper leaves, eggplant leaves and rhubarb leaves.

Save this list before your next garden cleanout!
