If you have cats that need spayed/neutered take advantage of this organization!! It will be in Terre Haute at the Vigo County Fairgrounds.

We have the HIGHEST demand for our clinics in Terre Haute, IN which is why we'll be back again for TWO DAYS to continue fixing cats and kittens (6 weeks and older) on May 23rd and 24th.

We charge $100 per cat/kitten, but if you live in the Terre Haute city limits AND receive government assistance, you can get your kitties fixed for only $25 per cat thanks to Project HOPE-Halting the Overpopulation of Pets without Euthanasia! If you don't live in the city limits and/or don't receive government assistance, we still have some limited financial assistance thanks to Pet Friendly Services that you can apply for on our website.

These clinics tend to sell out quickly, so DON'T WAIT to get registered at www.pub.vet

Meet Fat Albert! He’s a grey squirrel that was dropped off about 3 weeks ago. He was a juvenile but almost ready for the wild. He will be released this week so he can start his adult life!
(Video of him eating in comments- volume up his little snack noises are too cute!)

Well it’s turtle time- again.
This little girl (she’s about 4 inches long) came to us from the Paris, IL area. She’s an Eastern Box Turtle and estimate her age to be about a year (likely last year’s hatching) based on her size. In the photos you will see her broken shell and close up you will see a perfect circular puncture through into her coelom (the space between the body wall and into the abdomen). This is an older injury and unlike the previous turtles that have come to use, I cannot close her shell.
This type of injury is what we commonly see when a dog uses them as a squeak toy and crush/break the shell and puncture into this space.
I was able to rehydrate her (notice the yellow spots on her skin, when she first arrived she was all dark brown an indication of both shock and severe dehydration). She was also started on antibiotics (injections).
Today I lavaged the wound with sodium chloride and placed a bandage. I’ll have to continue to monitor her and see if more aggressive intervention is needed. (I am being guided by a reptile specialist).
For now she is mobile, eating and drinking on her own- which is amazing.
It will likely take her a year to recover/heal for release back into the wild where she belongs.
We have named her Matilda (which means “mighty in battle”).

AVS will be closed for Easter starting Good Friday (4/3) and will open again on Tuesday (4/7). Have a safe holiday.
