One month from today we will be serving our fall Breakfast on the Farm at Bruss Family Farm! Let us provide you with a farm family introduction- Dave and Sue Bruss along with their sons Chad and Ben, own and operate Bruss Family Farm. Dave and Sue started to take over the farm from Sue’s parents after they married in 1983 and built it to what it is today!
In 2008 they built a free stall barn to expand the operation and move from their traditional tie stall barn housing. In 2013 they added a calf barn to house calves indoors. Chad and Ben graduated from UW-Platteville in 2018 & 2021 and have both returned to the farm. Their transition back to the farm provided opportunity to add on to the existing free stall barn and expand their herd to 180 milking cows and 200 heifers.
Their farm grows hay and corn on about 350 owned and rented acres to make feed for their herd. They have worked to improve the genetics of their herd by increasing their genetic pool with registered Holsteins and utilizing advanced reproductive technologies to improve their next generation of cows on the farm.
Being a small, family farm they rely on the help of many neighbors when needed with milking, field work, and other various jobs.
We hope you can join the Bruss Family along with their friends and neighbors for the Green Lake County Focus on the Farm Fall breakfast on the farm on Sunday, October 5 from 8am-12pm!
