1. The tallest dog ever recorded was a Great Dane named Zeus, who measured an astounding 44 inches tall at the shoulder.

2. Despite their modern couch-potato status, they were originally bred in the 16th century by German nobles to hunt fierce wild boars, bears, and deer.

3. Despite their daunting size, they are huge lovers of sleep. A Great Dane can easily snooze for up to 18 hours a day.
