Meet Ava, the Sweetest Little Patient!

Yesterday, Dr. Ratliff had the pleasure of caring for Ava, a very special domestic rat who came in to have 2 mammary masses removed which are unfortunately common with them. Ava was an absolute sweetheart throughout her visit—she even gave us kisses! Her surgery & anesthesia went well, and she’s expected to make a full recovery.

Rats like Ava make wonderful pets—they are intelligent, affectionate, and form strong bonds with their humans. We’re honored to help care for all our ‘pocket pets’!

Say hello to one of our newest (and one of the fluffiest!) patients, Mitis! This adorable 2-month-old pup is already stealing hearts. His mom is a Karakachan, and his dad is a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix—so he’s sure to grow into a big, beautiful guardian!

Today, we removed an engorged tick from a dog—yes, in the middle of February! ❄️🐾 This is a reminder that ticks can be active year-round, even in colder months.

✔️ Keep your pets on their tick preventatives all year long.
✔️ Regularly check their skin (and your own!) for any unwanted hitchhikers.

Say hello to Nami, a stunning Giant Flemish rabbit who recently visited us and tipped the scales at an impressive 16 pounds! 🐇💙

Flemish Giants are known for their gentle personalities, large size, and adorable long ears. Despite their impressive stature, they require just as much love and care as their smaller bunny counterparts!

Nami was the perfect patient during her visit, and we couldn’t resist giving her extra love and attention. Have you ever met a bunny this big?
